Not just Rovers supporters, but thousands of football supporters have paid up for 20/21 season tickets, not knowing whether games will be played or not, and said "Don't refund me for 20/20's lost games, use it for youth development (or whatever is suggested) instead." I read somewhere (on here?) that every Grimsby season ticket holder said just that. Given those circumstances, I do hope that football clubs will not spend funds received in this way on inflated wages, or worse still, lining the pockets of players' agents. It will be interesting in a year's time to see how much money League One and Two clubs have shovelled towards agents. Unless the game fundamentally changes how are any L1/L2 clubs going to sign players w/o paying agents fees, when every player now as his own agent?

I think it will always be the same. bigger clubs spend more and get the better players. Not always the better team though

In theory I honestly back the wage-cap for curtailing some of the financial shenanigans we've seen over the years. On the other hand though I abhor regulation in general and think the more rules and laws that are made up, the more underhand business will go down, the more loopholes will be found, and the bigger the problems. People who make rules have all the good intentions. But we all know what the road to hell is paved with

I find it weird that we are signing anyone never mind big earners like the 2 journeyman centre-backs mentioned. I mean when do we get crowds at football and how many will turn up?

Journeyman centre-backs? Well yes a 28 year old who plays for gillingham and a 27 year old who is unwanted at a pretty poor sunderland team. I cannot fathom the logic myself? Why not stick with the young players plan? then we get sell on value and energy. We already know that experienced players take no notice of anything garners says so why not sign players that suit him and the plan going forward?

We already know that experienced players take no notice of anything garners says so why not sign players that suit him and the plan going forward? Gillingham's captain Ehmer, a player with over 300 career appearances for 5 clubs after his sub app for QPR, and the other Baldwin with around 280 career appearances for 5 clubs and experience of captaining Peterborough following his 500k move. Not exactly what I would call "journeyman" centre backs. I think we will be essentially sticking with the young players plan, but one of those young players in Kilgour has been linked with clubs at a higher level and attracted a lot of scouts last season, so maybe the club realise it will be hard to keep him if a reasonable offer comes in from a higher level. Then we would still have Harries and Menayese to compete with the new lads for a place and learn from their experience. I think both Ehmer and Baldwin could prove to be good additions myself, but only time will tell.

When we're linked to youngsters, people complain that we're signing unproven kids that lack experience and when we get linked with older players people complain that we're signing journeyman on high wages. It's hard to please some.
