A lot of Stoke fans would probably remember this game back in 2000. It was one of our few points we collected in the final 10 games of "that" nearly season. Peter Thorne certainly was one in our backsides back then! Like a lot of people, I was at the game. I couldn't believe how strong and mobile all of the Stoke players seemed to be that day. We did well to get a draw. Does anyone have the team sheet? I can't seem to find it online. Don't know the starting XI but the following were mentioned : Lee Jones - Robbie Pethick, Andy Tillson, Andy Thomson, Marcus Andreasson, Trevor Challis, David Hillier, Vitas Astafjevs, Jason Roberts, Jamie Cureton, Mark Walters.

Andy Thomson played brilliant up here.We beat Stoke 4-1 with a Cureton Hat-Trick and then a late winner in a 2-1 win by Wally Walters.Thomson was magnificent in the second game but left suddenly soon afterwards for Pompey I think it was.Local press described Jason Roberts as 'A magnificent prospect and awesome talent' in the 4-1 win. One yob threatened me when Cureton scored our 4 th goal in the first game and I was dancing in celebration and called me a Bristol B------.I was a serving Police officer at the time and produced my warrant card.He was very apologetic and I whispered 'Wish we played ---- like you every week!!!' Another name you list is David Hillier.Never saw him pass forward!!!! Strange thing ,the ref in the second game was local John Brandwood who I knew. Not a late replacement as he was named in the match programme.Unusual to have a ref that lived so close (in nearby Lichfield). We wore white shirts but when they came to us they wore red shorts and their normal red striped shirts.Do love to see the quarters away from home but it doesn't happen too often.

David Hillier . Now there was a case. Mind you he came with a lot of baggage. Was a passenger in most games I saw.

Challis only ever got one goal for us ... against Wigan at the Mem. I suspect I was there but I don’t remember it myself, must’ve been spectacular as 40 yarders always are ...However I do remember another full back we got from QPR, Justin Channing, who scored a forty yarder But luckily that was against the dark side at Twerton and was televised so there is footage of that to keep reminding me, although I think that the HTV cameras didn’t have the best angle for it and we saw the brilliance of it from the stand best.

You know the old brain may have got muddled, I think it was Channing who scored that goal. I was stood behind the dugout, so not a bad view either. Thanks for putting me right on it .

Well I would suggest asking Trevor himself about his goal but as footballers are known to exaggerate by a few extra feet with the passing of every year It is probably a 70 yarder by now!

It’s going to be Luton, Barnsley and Wigan isn’t it.

It’s going to be Luton, Barnsley and Wigan isn’t it. Probably, annoying that Wigan have gone into Admin or it could have been interesting who joined Luton and Barnsley, although those two play each other next so a Luton win could liven things up, as they then play at Huddersfield.

Not good for morale though getting stuffed 0 - 5 at home by Reading.

Could well be seeing Tommy Locks back next season.Charlton really in the frame now.Stoke beating Barnsley 4-0 has dropped Charlton right in it.

75 support staff made redundant? Blimey. What did they all do? No wonder Wigan are short of money. Conspiracy theory suggests they were manipulated towards bankruptcy, administration, a points deduction and relegation.

If my memory is correct - a dodgy assumption - I’m sure I read somewhere at the start of this issue that they employed 600 full and part time staff😧. Stand to be corrected on that one ...maybe someone can confirm/deny what I thought I read...? Assume that covers all areas (Security/catering/groundstaff etc) and not just directly involved with the footballing aspect of the club. Not sure what the total for BRFC if you cover all departments?

Wigan are 1-0 so far at home to QPR so I wouldn't write them off surviving even with the 12 point deduction imposed as they're picking up points after the break.
Hull, Barnsley and Luton are the three I think we'll be up against next year.
