The Geordie Gashead As I recall lots of energy and endeavour, but not much else. 10 goals in 22 games. Not a bad record, would give a Golden egg for someone with that record now 😂 He had the knack of making something happen, just getting in their faces, or running after lost causes, having a pot shot from distance etc. Used as an impact sub a lot just to gee things up and freshen our attacks. Had the pleasure of a chat with him and other members of his family when he joined us in the crowd for that memorable last day win at Hartlepool...he could sing Irene with a geordie accent too!

What a week this is turning out to be not many clubs in England that are on as much of a high as we are, it’s a true testament to Waels commitment that we are coming out of this lockdown the strongest we’ve ever been, EVER! Roll on the new season, just cap the week off for me with the new kit and sn signing UTG Get JCH signed, do more signings, new kit sorted, new stadium plans in place and moving and we should be ready to go. Actually, why bother playing football? We are on a roll and we are going up? Nice to see all the positive things happening but a gentle reminder that money does not automatically mean success even after a few years. The same applies to facilities and support. They help (Massively?) but at the end, it’s what the players and managing staff do, with the Board and fans backing, that matters. Teams like Exeter and Forest Green have been pushing for promotion for the last few seasons but failing at the playoffs stage? Other teams have got promoted with scant resources. Like everyone else, can’t wait for the new season. The only way is up! UTG

Puts certain strikers we've had in recent years to shame though

What are the odds of this happening tomorrow 👀 I assume Daniel on one of the other signings threads has a v. good point in that Nicholson can't have a medical until he's self quarantined for 14 days following his return from the USA around 10 days ago, as things stand I can't see him not signing unless Heart's break the bank, or he fails his medical. Suppose it all depends on when he returned. Just looked back and although Sam and others reported he was still in America on the 9th, on the original article from Scotland, it said he was expected to return the weekend of the 4th. If he did return that weekend, his isolation would be up already. Fingers crossed he returned then and has already signed.

Just dug out the game by game spreadsheet for that season. First Loan: League - 8 starts, 2 Sub apps, 2 goals. Second Loan: League - 4 starts, 8 Sub apps, 4 goals. Total League Record - 12 starts, 10 sub apps 6 goals He was allowed to represent us in the JPT where he made one start (scoring the winner against Peterborough) and appeared as a sub in both legs of the semi final against City and in the Final against Doncaster. Thus his full Rovers record is 13, 13, 7.

UTG I completely agree, but notice how all the 4 signings are frees, this summer will be jam packed with free transfers for obvious reasons, and the fact we have got in and sorted it out early is brilliant, so yes we do seem to be spending a bit more, but it’s educated spending, the training ground is a step to a more modern club, and the free transfers I’m sure were helped out with a few leaving. Don’t think I’ve ever been able to say this before, but we seem to be ahead of the curve this summer. UTG

Agree piratejames. I presume Sercs, Nichols and OC would be amongst our higher earners so we’ve not paid any fees, some good business done early which is a change from normal I would think. UTG!

Well I got that one right, I believe we have a striker coming in, in the next couple of weeks, I only hope he is quality and the info I have picked up is correct.

'' the info I have picked up '' Not convincing. You have to say: ''I have been told'' (or better still) ''I have been informed''. So you're still only itk, not ITK. Sorry.

Yh I would have thought so Nichols was a Clarke signing when he was handing out the big contracts, and sercs would have been on one of the highest. So all in all I doubt we are too much out of pocket to be fair. Every summer you see one or two clubs doing good business and you think they’ll be a threat this year, and for the first time I think there will be other clubs in our league thinking that about us, I know that’s not what matters but it’s a step in the right direction for sure.
