Just a thought. Lazy Scottish reporter reads rubbish Bristol newspaper on line. Spots a report that Rovers supposedly need wingers. Dreams up a story to fill his pages that a winger returning from USA would be just the link required to make it look responsible reporting. Bristol Reporter sees the story and repeats it. Bristol fans see the link and some get carried away that what some say is a second rate lower rate player is a EFL L1 sensation. We can only dream, shame newspaper reporters get carried away as well.

Worst I ever saw in over 60 years was Derek Riordon who was a much heralded Scot. Mind you Jocky Alexander was brill,Clarkson so-so and loved Alex Munro.Hard case he was!!! Alex Munro? What a player. Sadly he wouldn't have finished a modern game with its new rules and guidance regarding tackling and ungentlemanly conduct. Alex and Lindsay Parsons - what a pair of fullbacks they would be. You would rest assured that the opposition wingers wouldn't tangle with those two!

Just checking, are we writing him off before he’s even signed on the dotted line cause some other Scottish players weren’t very good? Yes. Because Scottish football is bad. Doesn’t mean all the players that play there are bad, MLS is also a better standard the league one is now days

The generality of my point still stands: SPL players are league 2 quality players looking for championship wages.

My abiding memory of Alex Munro is him getting sent off after a drop-ball - from what I recall his boot was somewhat high and caught the opposing player in the gentleman vegetables. An uncompromising player who as you say probably wouldn't see out a game these days. But he did sign my autograph book when I was young lad. Splendid chap.

Remember that - slide tackle to take out a City player ended up crashing into benches off the pitch.
Other quite useful Scottish players for the Gas: Ken Ronaldson, Tom Stanton, Sandy Allan - but the best was surely big Jim Eadie!

Interesting debate.....he’s too good to want to come here, he’s Scottish so it won’t work, he’s not under 23 with no experience so he doesn’t fit the profile etc etc. Maybe TW was given a brief to look for a left sided winger with a bit of pace, eye for a goal, stamina and a decent cross on him, who’d possibly be available on a free? Age not an issue because we’ve already significantly reduced the average age of the squad. If Nicholson’s name popped out when those criteria were used they’d be daft not to have a look at him. Having a look and sounding him out are a long way from agreeing terms and signing a player on ... so I think this is somewhere in the realm of “wouldn’t rule it out” This guy gets it 👏

Chris Crowe, the City winger had been giving him the run round all through the game. Alex ran full-pelt and launched into a sliding tackle; Crowe just hopped over him, and was yards away by the time Alex hit the woodwork. Can't remember who was moved to mark Crowe afterwards - might have been Frankie Prince - but whoever it was simply marked the winger out of the game.

I can remember him crashing into the railings at Ashton Gate and I am sure he broke his leg in the process and the City winger that night was "squeaky" Lou Peters.
