www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/53385473Huge surprise that Man City are cleared to play in the European Cup. The £10 million fine surely mean it’s ok to break the rules. In fact it makes economic sense to break the rules

Did FFP ever really apply? The transfer fees paid in Europe suggest it didn't.

Maybe if the Fruit Bowl ever comes to fruition the naming rights will be sold to a certain Jordanian bank.

Rules are rules, except when they aren't really rules.
The motto of the authorities and the elite football clubs.

Should just put a salary cap in place like there is in American sports, and if you go over you pay a luxury tax... Make that tax value extremely large, and redirect it down the pyramid. hoopshype.com/2018/10/11/nba-luxury-tax/

To be fair, it seems to be that Man City have been targeted and seem to be selected for punishment and not Barca, Madrid, Juve, PSG etc
The rules are sh** full stop, but seems Man City are a scapegoat for a bigger problem UEFA don't know how to solve, or don't want to

So Rui Pinto risked his job and went to jail for whistleblowing this, only for Man City to be exonerated. I bet he feels gutted.

It’s like all walks of life. The rules do not apply to the super rich or the elite. Just for the peasants.

FFP is sh*t anyway.
If your club is lucky enough to have super rich owners, then you should be able to spend that money.
It's like winning the lottery but then being told you cant spend those millions.
FFP was only set up by the Real Madrids, Barcelona's, Juventus, Man Utd's etc to stop other clubs ever being able to join the top table.
The only issue I have with Man City and PSG is that they are basically owned by countries.

I think our friend Baggins was querying whether the naming rights should be tendered for a period of time for sponsorship rather than a one-off sale.

Man City were singled out for alleged breaches of FFP when any number of other elite clubs were conducting themselves in a similar manner. As a result, Man City hire an expensive team of lawyers and eventually get fined 10 million Euros. What a joke. That's just loose change to Man City.

Its how we have all got into the sh**ty situation that the lower leagues are in. So the team with the most money gets an advantage? I was hoping that the Covid-19 would allow society to rethink football. However we have just gone back to the old ways. :-(

If someone’s daft enough to pump their own personal wealth into the game then let them. It should be there to prevent situations like the one happening at Wigan now, what happened at Portsmouth all those years ago, Leyton Orient a few years ago, the list goes on. What it should be there for is to stop those clubs that have gone into administration due to being poorly run. That’s the area where it’s currently failing.
