That's exactly what was said about JCH when he arrived at Rovers. You might remember that he wasn't that prolific before he signed for us. Completely agree regarding when we signed JCH which is why I would give Samuel a chance and would back him from the stands as I do with every new player. For me though I think my original statement is my immediate thoughts on the potential signing and would personally prefer a more proven goal scorer. I’m not saying samuel couldn’t and wouldn’t get the goals we would be losing if we lost JCH but it would be a risk. With the clubs new philosophy of wanting to develop players, which I totally agree with and have been wanting to see something like this put in place for a long time, I think we already have 2 new strikers on the books that fit this description so would rather JCH replacement already be a proven, experienced striker to go alongside the 2 we already hope to step up instead of taking a gamble on all the forwards we would have in the squad. To be honest, this one would surprise me, as he could be another Stefan Payne. We look to be signing mainly 23 year olds, so a 26 year old journeyman doesn't fit the mould.

If we sign anyone else it has to be a creative midfielder who can supply the ammunition for the forwards to act on. Without this type of player we won't be scoring many goals again this coming season. Hopefully another winger as well. Maybe the guy from Derby on loan again.

He's not a journeyman, he's only ever had two permanent clubs in his career. Don't see the logic in why we should never sign another 26 year old striker because they could be another Stefan Payne, JCH is 26.

I want 3 personally. A winger would be nice but Rodman, Nicholson and Barrett may be our options there, especially as I think we may play a 5-3-2/3-5-2 this season so I went with central midfielder (as long as they are creative) and a striker.
Last season we didn't have a player that received the ball from the CBs and got play going and I still don't think we do and it is really needed. I also went striker as to go into a season with only 1 striker with experience at this level is a big big risk, especially with his injury record. If JCH gets injured, we are relying on Daly and Ayunga who must have 10 football league games between them? They may both be brilliant but it is still a big risk.

I think the couple more signings was permanent deals and not loans so I guess it becomes a question of what positions is it vital that we own and what can we cope having on a temporary basis.

So many unknowns still: I’d always prefer a 442 but BG will be more fluid and 433 and 352 or even 541 or something similar will be used depending on the circumstances and he will want to cover all eventualities. I’ve been banging on about the creative midfielder needed for last 2/3 years. But Barrett may be earmarked for this role as some have said. I’m not sure he can do it. I’d say another striker. But BG may be supplementing the 3 we have with Warwick and Philips. He’ll want to find out about them. Signing Nicholson might be the width he wants and with Rodman and Bennett being others supported by youngsters. It might even be the creativity in a forward 3. Having the development squad has to have a purpose and after 3 years of it perhaps it’s now that we will see it’s value. Alfie has come through it and Hargreaves towards the end of last season, so let’s hope that is the start of the production line. UTG!

To Cut a Long Story Short, It's My Instinction that we need LB + 2 CM + 1 W and 2 more Strikers.
What will our Chant No 1 be?

Gone for centre midfield and striker.Worried our left back will be targeted though but the 2 positions I’ve gone for should be the priority.I do wonder if someone like Harries might be given a go at left back if he is left footed.

I went for a central midfielder as everyone can see we need a ball player and I also chose left back. I don’t think anyone knows what formation BG will play but I’ve based my choices on him going 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. If he was to play with 2 forwards I would change left back for another striker

By my reckoning (could be wrong) 11 players (including 4 loanee’s) have left the club since the end of last season. I would guess there are a further three players that BG would want to get shot of if he could. He’s brought in 5 - hopefully he can bring in at least 2 maybe 3 more including perhaps JML on a season long loan.

Would love JML back next year with a view to making permanent if worked out, though I believe he is in his last year of contract next season anyway?

We need a small, nimble striker who knows how to score goals. Kabongo tshimanga from Boreham Wood fits the bill. I'm just not convinced that James Daly has the experience to lead the line alongside JCH this season and may need a season or so to bed in. It would be a lot of pressure to put on the young lads shoulders to expect him to score 25 goals this season. The new guy jonah ayunga looks like a JCH clone and is obviously a replacement for him either straight away or more likely, eventually and I don't think two tall target men can play together albeit walker and lambert did. Another winger needed as well.

A winger and a striker.
Don't think we have any depth in either positions.
But I do believe we need a cm too.
