When do we think we will start playing friendlies?? See Peterborough are playing today, but their president said he's not allowed to say who they are playing, in case fans turn up.

A weeks time if the Maidenhead friendly is still going ahead. All the friendlies have been finalised according to Garner, I expect the club won't want to publish when/where they are though as the players are getting regular Covid tests.

I don’t see the problem with announcing friendlies - it’s not as if the L1 fixture list will be a secret once the season starts.

Would prefer to do the EFL cup group stage as friendlies tbh I said that as well. If it's not being scrapped this year, it would have been useful for our e season.

Traditionally most friendlies were away to smaller clubs to provide them with some money. Home games were against higher divisions for the same reason. Both would only have small attendances relative to the club and size of ground. It's a thought that a Rovers home game against L2 or below would only get a crowd of 1000/1500 in normal times. Assuming this is the type of fixture Ben has arranged and if Government rules allow it might be a good arrangement to test the Covid19 measures in a low key match with ticket only.

But Boris has put the brakes on easing lockdown restrictions which means no crowds at stadiums (see snooker world champs as example) so I can't see there being any crowds at all for friendlies.

I couldn't see any being allowed to attend even before Friday's announcement? Not sure it really matters who or where we're playing friendlies if none of us can watch them, although hopefully they are filmed and highlights shown. Given BG's comments about Maidenhead's season not starting to October, perhaps we'll just have to play local league sides this pre-season. A game with City would probably get record receipts for both sides if it was shown on iFollow.

Streaming friendlies at maybe a fiver a go would help the local club's and can't be that expensive to set up a half decent camera I know some on ifollow were poor last season but we all need a fix after so long

Wealdstone would be a good test. My local club. Watched Manor Farm lose there last season in FA Cup. Play good football and a very nice ground.
May possibly play Havant & Waterlooville as payback for Ayunga and a farewell from him to them?
Plenty of local options like FGR and Cheltenham?

We should play the City, it’s been ages since I had a punchup in Ashton Park.
