Our pitch was stripped and relaid earlier than usual. Several weeks before the season should have ended. The surface must be like a bowling green by now.

The pitch was dug up in the second week of May on schedule and as planned prior to the start of last season, only the playoffs would've maybe seen it dug up any later. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-rovers-explain-pitch-mem-4135834

Playing Swindon Town on Tuesday. Home or away? Are you working nights? I heard Richie Wellens say in his post match interview after beating Nuneaton 8-0 that they are playing us on Tuesday, but didn't mention whether home or away.

Swindon 8-0 vs a team that I think is 7th tier Rovers 4-0 vs a team that I think is 8th tier Not 100% certain of my facts on the opponent levels above - whatever I think the opposition on Tuesday will be more than slightly better than the opposition we played Saturday

Will be a tough game against Swindon. They'll still have the feel good factor after winning promotion and eager to prove they can cope in L1.

Tyler Smith scored 4 in that game. Not sure how long he played for though.

What team do you reckon we will go with on Tuesday As quoted on the Jamie Egan thread: His name starts with J so we are defo signing him! We should now have 9 Js in our line up plus 2 Jokers and now an additional J substitute. Up The Js? Oh, almost forgot, welcome and enjoy! So the starting line up will be Js? UTG

Unusual to play a team in the same league so early on in pre season.

Unusual to play a team in the same league so early on in pre season. That's what I was thinking. Very rare you play teams in the same division during pre season.

Very true but actually makes sense wrt distancing. If you really want to test yourself against "better" teams, you play teams in higher leagues like Swansea, Cardiff, WBA, etc. but these opportunities may now be restricted as these teams may not want the virus to hit their players if they play other lower league teams? The risks may outweigh any benefits for them? I think that this season, a lot of clubs, especially in the West which has fewer League clubs, will be playing less friendlies against higher opposition but more against local teams?

Frome played away yesterday at Bishop cleeve and won 4-0, so the non league clubs are playing behind closed doors, I thing to toolstaion League and the Southern League start at the same time as we do. I cannot see the problem with crowds for example Fomes ground holds 4,000 and the get 220 or so, lots of seat spare lots of standing room spare,I suspect the majority of grounds at that level are the same

Something tells me that this game against Swindon is more of a behind closed doors training ground friendly session rather than an official fixture. I’m sure we would have heard about it from the club by now otherwise.
Edit: Just seen that the post have said that it’s an U23 development squad fixture.

From the Sam Frost Q&A today...
"The club have a full schedule of pre-season friendlies planned, but as it stands the details will be released incrementally due to COVID safety regulations. The games will be announced in due course.
I can confirm there is a Swindon game tomorrow, however that is an under-23s training game completely behind closed doors, so no streaming planned for that one."

Could be a good opportunity to play Bennett and make him look good and let Swindon see again what they are missing out on, if we want him to leave? 😂
