I’ve seen a few little discussions on other threads but would like to know what people’s opinions are. If the worst was to happen and we lose JCH ( my opinion is he will stay) who would you sign to replace him and why? My choices would be, Tyler Walker, Marcus Forss, Rhys Healey or Callum Morton. Tyler Walker would be my first choice but think it would be a difficult signing to make as I think after his last couple of seasons forest may think he’s ready for first team action. A loan would probably be our best chance. Marcus Forss would be my second choice. What I seen of him this season I think he looks like a very promising player and scored goals at this level. If Brentford manage promotion I think we would be able to make this signing on a permanent as I can’t see him getting game time in the premier league. A loan would also be an achievable option. Rhys Healey would be my third choice. The right age to start coming in to his prime and I have been a fan for a while and scored goals this season at MK. Wether we would be able to sign a player under contract from a rival in the division I’m not sure. Callum Morton impressed me the few times I seen him for Northampton but still relatively inexperienced and hasn’t played at this level. I liked his work rate and seemed to get himself in to the right places at the right time. A loan move would be most likely for the same reasons as Forss from Brentford.
If we had to make loan signings to replace JCH and not permanents I would try to take two from above.

I'm not all that convinced that JCH will suit Garner's supposed style of play so I think we'd be bringing in a totally different type of player should he depart. So I'd agree with Forss, who looks awesome.
That said, if we wanted a similar type of player to JCH, isn't Armand Gnanduillet available on a free? Might be out of our reach though, seemingly interesting the likes of Preston.

Need someone up front who can win headers, hold the ball, dribble and score as well as defend set pieces. Can’t beat JCH on that! Forss good versus us but different type of player. JCH cleverly got him 2nd yellow at Wombles which then let us dominate them.
Can’t see anyone who can replace him; sorry.

Until we stop selling our goalscorer and finding someone to partner them, we will remain average league 1 side. Need to have a couple players able to find the net for there to be any success.

I would agree with this, although he has done a wonderful job for us Im not convinced he would suit the Garner style of football.. probably going to get hit with a few remarks to that opinion

That's not to see he couldn't be a success in a possession-based approach but he's clearly more suited to a physical Coughlan-esque style. That said, he's still a top drawer striker and I hope he stays so we can have that target and brute among the supposed tika-taka.

I agree, would like one of these alongside JCH in a ideal world. Unfortunately the power lay in the players hands nowadays and if he was to decide not to sign a contract extension the club will look to cash in now.

If JCH did want to leave then that is fine, better he went and gave us time to find another Striker. I hope he stays and has strong partnership with Ayunga.

We've signed his replacement already. Jonah Ayunga If we were to lose JCH I would hope the club wouldn’t be relying on Ayunga to to score the goals we would be losing. Ayunga may have the potential to go on and be a very good player but I think it would be a huge gamble to expect him to replace JCH so soon

I don't expect JCH to leave us until January at the earliest. As for singpus suggesting that they play together, I think that's fanciful as they are too similar and it won't happen. At this time James daly is earmarked for the no10 role but hopefully we can sign another small striker as well to have 4 first team strikers to compliment the three kids we have in Warwick, Hulbert and the other lad.

Why do most fans, if not all, want JCH to stay? Irrespective of the system we play. Because he is a universal forward, will fit any system because he plays outside the box! Talent and skill comes from individuals? Same as work rate / effort and commitment.
Whatever the system, whatever the weather, whatever .... we want him to stay.
Personally, there will be less incentive for me to go to matches, especially midweek in winter, if we do not keep it have players like him?

UTG I don't think anyone is explicitly saying they actively WANT him to leave. I think we'd all LOVE him to sign a new contract but the realistic fact remains that if he shows no desire to renew, we should be looking to maximise our chances of getting the highest price by selling him this summer. If I had to bet, he won't sign a new deal immediately but might sign one during the season if we're looking in good knick and in contention. I can't see many current Championship clubs going after him, not least in the Covid market.
