People saying today is when our season starts is abit silly and a joke. It started last Saturday and continued Tuesday. The friendlies and there results mean nothing but the last two professional cup games did. I believe we are going to lose very heavy..3 or 4 nil.But the least I except is a honest hard working performance and a sign of what BG is trying to do.Otherwise the pressure is on. Don't forget we always lose the opening game anyway so today is another write-off and the result doesn't really matter.

That’s why I don’t get people saying they didn’t matter! Victories breed confidence. And Ben could do with that!

No doubt the same "tinters" will say next week doesn't matter as we've already lost heavily to Ipswich, then we always lose to Doncaster, and will probably also find an excuse for losing to Northampton! Sunderland were poor last season and have lost one of their best players, if we can't compete with them today then we've major problems.

Trouble is, Sunderland have a whole team of good players, with plenty in reserve, all capable of making it a very uncomfortable afternoon for us.

I'm gonna go for the obvious loss of 3 or 4 nil, but can't wait to watch it and I still have hope

Would be surprised if this is anything less than a 3-0 score line.

I agree, but i dont think even Garner knows what he wants of them. When he came in he changed a system that didnt really need changing at the time, we worked hard, solid defensively and nicked a goal when we needed it. People say it was ugly football but we were effective, for a year we were one of the best sides in the division which going by the form table is a fact. Garner then starts to put his own stamp on things, changing tactics and the way we play and anyone with a pair of eyes could see that it wasnt working, he then for the sunderland game reverted back to the 3 at the back that had led us to 4th in the table and we were unreal. He then replaces the players that worked in that system with people who arent adequate enough to play in this system and watching preseason we can all see we need a plan b or a different way to play with the players we have but now he cant see that a simple 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 would be ideal for what we have and then we would also have enough cover. And the fact we are in the market for a cdm when we have Ogogo here is a joke.

I think we’ll lose but I’ve got no idea whether we’ll play well and lose by one or play like we have been and get done by 3 or more. Still well up for it though Come On You Bluuuuuues !!!

Ultimately BG has overall responsibility for results but the players need to step up and take some personal responsibility too. Ok the way BG sets the team will mostly be to blame when things go wrong but what about players stepping up? For example is it a BG instruction that our defenders should want to win the ball less than the opposition from set pieces?

It'll be Come on you Yellows/Yellow and Black today won't it? Hoping for a strong and gutsy performance today. I fear a heavy defeat though could dent any confidence and could affect our ability to recruit too if it is really embarrassing.

I had a dream last night that JML scored in the 3rd minute and we clung on for a 1-0.
I still think we’ll lose 4-0 though.
