Yeah you’re right. It was a bit of a dick post on my behalf as part of an attempt on humour but was a bit below the belt, probably borne out of frustration. My concerns are along the same lines as you - GC wasn’t the likeable fellow DC was but demonstrated terrific man management, at times perhaps even better than DC. You could go into half time if we were having an off day and you could be safe in the faith that we would come out a different side after half time and at least have a go, heads dipping weren’t an option and those who did drop their heads didn’t last long. You could see the passion eschewed from the touchlines. I loved the never say die attitude. How both DC and GC took responsibility for a bad result even when you know it probably was the players! I don’t see any of these qualities in BG. I recognised many of the things you’ve stated early on and they facilitate and breed my doubt in his ability as manager. Do I like the man? Honestly, no. Do I think he will be a success? No. Could I ever like him even if he was a huge success? Not sure I would. But I would shut up and keep those opinions to myself and give him the praise and respect he deserved if he did. I would get behind him 100% if in ten games time we were charging up the league table. Nobody would give a sh** about his subdued nature on the sidelines if it seemed as if his tactical and personnel changes during the match appeared to impact the game in a positive way - that’s something I could see myself having great respect for in fact. Last winter I was coming on here and defending our manager and expressing frustration that supporters weren’t getting behind the manager when we were climbing the league. Calling him a PE teacher. I may have overreacted to certain players not performing well at the start, say Ed Upson, and I may have been ridiculous about JCH. But on balance I am often closer to a rose tinter and I often defend players who may have had a bad game or I feel haven’t had the chance to demonstrate their qualities. Somehow I’ve become a boo boy and it hurts. Really honest reply from you pal - nice to show everyone that we can all reflect on our comments and viewpoints and good note that they can also change over time either way, for or against I too, would like to commend your reflective response, which does you much credit. I suppose fot me, it hurts to see so much negativity to the man leading my Club. Because, to echo a previous response on the subject, he is the Bristol Rovers manager and he is doing his best to bring success to The Gas. I want him to do well, as that means The Gas dong well, both in terms of performance and results on the pitch and the continuing development of the club off the pitch. There has been debate about paying the man due respect, which some have pointed out, needs to be earned. However, I would like to think that the default position, for anyone, let alone our manager, is to be respectful. I know these barbs may be defended as being only in jest, but they are pernicious comments which most people would find offensive if being on the receiving end of. Having been entrusted with this transformative period of the club's history, I believe that Ben should be judged on this season, and if that does not translate to results on the pitch, I would still endorse the foundations that have been set out by Ben, and would hope that they will continue with someone else at the helm. Many will disagree, but I have already said that barring an absolute disaster on the pitch, I would give him the full season to fulfil his objectives. Altering the course set out out now, could be more harmful in the long term. Cool heads and and steady hands are required to maintain our course through these choppy waters. Regardless, I guess we are all united in one thing on here though, that of our frustration! UTG!

One thing unites the fans: we all want to see Rovers do well on the pitch.
The major difference of opinion is whether Garner is the man to oversee that objective. Some say he's had long enough and he's come up short. Others say let's be patient and give him a decent chance to transform the club. Both opinions are valid and both opinions have the same objective: success on the field. For my part, I'm running out of patience but would love to be proved wrong.
I think everybody is disappointed with the season's start. Two bad defeats to Ipswich and an Alamo-like draw at Sunderland. In reality, we are a lower mid table L1 team. The season will be defined by our results against the teams around us. Most people expect Ipswich and Sunderland to be around the top of the table. Both clubs under performed big style last season and it's unlikely that the same will happen this campaign.
We always seem to start the season slowly regardless of manager and league. Everybody hoped that things would be different this campaign. Sadly, the reality of our playing competence has sunk in after three senior games.

Be interested to see how our formation works against Donny. so far the matches against Ipswich 433 and Sunderland 343 haven't gone too well. the match against Walsall 4231 went a bit better (arguably a different line up and weaker opponent) however it looks like Donny deploy 4231 formation so we will see how ours copes with that

Sir Alex was not successful for quite a while.
As long as there are 5-6 worse clubs than us, I can't see him going.
I hope that if we are save from relegation with 3-4 games to go that he gives some of the younger players a chance.
With no fans at games there is not the financial urgency as usual with fans voting with their feet.
In the long term it does seem that we could be a Chelsea youth feeder team though.

That's the worry we now are thinking like the clubs some on here think are below them. Accrington and the like get in loans to survive in the league.sad thing is Fleetwood have more ambition then us

Get used to it and get behind the guy, he is here for the long haul regardless of what you or I think. He might be, but we might not. By the time crowds are allowed back there might not be that many left

We need someone who has played to be managed and assistant. Benny is too nice, players are motivated in different ways. You need someone to give some order. Sorry but Benny is not a manager.
