The only embarrassment is the state of our results mate since this clown came in and took a team that were second at HT on boxing day to bottom of the league LDLWWLDWDWWWLDWWWWD - LDLDLLLLDLLLDWLLLWLLDLL Meanwhile in Mansfield, the same thread about the manager that had us in 2nd place due to a very similar record... www.stagsnet.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37482He walked into a club that were in free fall. BG walked into League One promotion candidates.

To be fair to Pirate, if I’m right in recalling that he endorsed Garner along with a number of other when DC left, then by the time GC left he had gone off of him in favour of other candidates. If you’ve read the Wishlist thread, you’d know that Pirate knows his stuff.

He walked into a club that were in free fall. BG walked into League One promotion candidates. We really weren’t. I enjoyed the results we managed, but we really were not promotion candidates, and were by far the worse team in the majority of those games. I’m not in any way sticking up for Garner, but I don’t subscribe to the GC was a phenomenal manager comments either. I thoroughly enjoyed our success, but we really were not that good

The league was there for the taking, just as Wycombe showed.

I thoroughly enjoyed our success, but we really were not that good Thing is, sometimes managers go into clubs and it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Jose at Man Utd, Brian Clough at Leeds, it happens. I think GC is a good manager, I think he bit off more than he could chew with Mansfield as they reportedly had a problem culture there - they’re getting through managers at a rate of knots similar to us before we dropped out of the league. I really hope we don’t end up doing the same in League One but we need to move BG on and get a decent appointment in who CAN have a chance to make the team their own and have a chance to bed themselves in. Rather than having a baptism of fire when we’re already adrift.

Matt Taylor at Exeter would be a good candidate he has got them to the playoffs and has a good win percentage , a young ambitious manager who had played the game professionally

If you're in 4th you're a promotion contender. You can pretend what you like but it's just a fact.

Nothing like a condescending prick I’m unsure how that was condescending but the fact you went back in to edit your comment and add the abuse to it shows you’ve probably had a few drinks and are feeling angry, as most of us are after a poor result and a poor start to the campaign. The name calling of the manager and also towards me probably aren’t necessary. It’s a forum. People on this thread are getting far too aggressive with one another - people having a go at Pirate as he suggested Garner “might” be a good shout months before he was appointed is out of order, and calling me a prick is pretty uncalled for too IMHO 🤷🏻♂️

But angry yes, we are currently the laughing stock of the football league as we seem incapable of getting rid of a manager that has proved over 9 months that they are incapable

What style of play do Nigel Clough sides tend to have?
I am very nervous about us appointing a long ball style manager with our current squad as we have a squad of players on two year contracts brought in to play football. A manager that can mix it up would be fine but a long ball manager wouldn’t be able to get his own squad of players together for a few years which doesn’t sound the most sensible approach.

[br We don’t have any Pulis type of players in our squad , Garner has managed to strip the squad of experience and players who where willing to put a shift in and put there bodies on the line the other problem we have is the budget has probably been used up and that leaves very little wriggle room for anyone coming in ? The other way forward is to bring in a director of football like when Trollope was guided by Lawerence .Got a feeling WAQ is going to let this project go on for a while

I am frustrated at our start, and defensively today we were atrocious. I hadn’t expected much from the first 3 games when the fixtures came out and sure enough we’ve got very little from them. Fingers crossed we either dramatically improve our results, or we appoint someone proven.

Yes mate, last September you said you thought we would really struggle under an inexperienced GC and likely to be near bottom of the table on a thread about how long GC should be given. Apologies if I’m wrong on that, but I’m pretty sure it was you. As I say, apologies if it was a poster with similar user name.

The stupidity of people on this forum beggars belief. Three games in, against sides in the top six, and fans calling for the manager’s head. You’re an embarrassment and don’t deserve to support Rovers. I would argue anyone wanting to keep him isn't a Rovers fan. Any Rovers fan would care about the best interests of the club. And for the second week running GGMI wins the 'most idiotic post of the week' award. Congratulations.
