The only embarrassment is the state of our results mate since this clown came in and took a team that were second at HT on boxing day to bottom of the league LDLWWLDWDWWWLDWWWWD - LDLDLLLLDLLLDWLLLWLLDLL Meanwhile in Mansfield, they have practically the same thread about the manager that had us in 2nd place due to a very similar record... www.stagsnet.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37482Interesting that none of GC, DC and IH are exactly setting League 2 alight - and yet some people want them back!

Interesting that none of GC, DC and IH are exactly setting League 2 alight - and yet some people want them back! I’d have DC back for old times sake and because I’d like to have the feel good factor back of a manager who was able to connect with supporters in the way that he did. I’m not sure I’d have Coughlan back. I said when he left that he would be lucky to re-create his success at Mansfield, he’s a limited manager and had the right ingredients here, I’m not sure his qualities are easily transferred and so it’s proved so far.

I would be happy for the club to appoint someone internal already at the club (at least for the short term). We have a good record with managers appointed from within. The club should have done the same after GC left. It would have been even easier then with far less pressure, no relegation battle etc. They would have played the same way and it was a no loose situation if it didn't work out.
Fans always cry out for big names but when was the last time we appointed an established league manager who actually did well? More often than not we end up ruining their carers!

I would argue anyone wanting to keep him isn't a Rovers fan. Any Rovers fan would care about the best interests of the club. And for the second week running GGMI wins the 'most idiotic post of the week' award. Congratulations. Well do you think keeping Ben Garner is the best decision for our club?

If we hired a catering van to transport and keep warm his wife’s cooked dinners across the country, do you reckon we can convince Coughlan to come back?

Would you have Lee Johnson? For tea yes, but I don’t think I could eat a whole one.

Waiting is delaying the inevitable. We should have acted last February/March when it was clear he wasn’t getting results. Performances and results have been appalling throughout his tenure. If it goes down to points per game this season, which looks likely, we could well be kicking ourselves that we waited until October to make the decision. Our new manager (when not if) is already going to have a serous battle on their hands to rectify this mess. I think the season will be suspended in the next few weeks and will most likely be declared null : void whatever it’s called. It was fair enough how they ended it last season we were two thirds through but I don’t think we’ll get that far this season. Strange times. It's actually a very good point. There is a very real possibility this season will be cut short. Not definite of course - but a chance no doubt. If that's the case, it's even more important we start getting points on the board immediately. It's all good and well thinking "we might start badly but finish strongly" - but there's every chance the season could be cut short and decided once more on PPG. We need to start getting points ASAP.

Why oh why did the club appoint a rookie manager? It will be a very long season if Mr.Garner continues at the helm. Maybe the ex-Bristol City manager would be an experienced choice. Afteral he did win promotion for the club. Worrying times,i just hope the club get things right. Getting out of this division is proving a moumental task. I dont know Garner will make it easy

He walked into a club that were in free fall. BG walked into League One promotion candidates. We really weren’t. I enjoyed the results we managed, but we really were not promotion candidates, and were by far the worse team in the majority of those games. I’m not in any way sticking up for Garner, but I don’t subscribe to the GC was a phenomenal manager comments either. I thoroughly enjoyed our success, but we really were not that good ~He just knew this league, the players that we needed and the formation they were best suited too. Garner knows none of that as yesterday showed

A guess the ideal CV is someone who can develop players, someone who believes in a blend of youth and experience, someone who has managed successfully at this level on a limited budget, someone with a good eye for a player, someone who believes in attractive football but also willing to mix it up in those games that need a more direct and physical approach, someone who is realistic and does not moan all the time, and someone who can set out a team and motivate it.
Can't think of anyone who ticks all those boxes. So I'd talk to Nigel Clough.

I think this is a hypothetical thread because WAQ is behind the Garner philosophy and he is perfectly safe until Xmas, perhaps for the season even if we’re relegated.
However, in the spirit of this thread I would suggest Paul Cook and the chap at Newport would be worth considering.
Don’t think anything will happen but just saying.

Paul Cook's next job will be at a Championship club, or at the very least one of the former Prem L1 clubs, without a doubt. Flynn would be realistic though, and wouldn't be a bad choice in my view.

Newcastle Quote -Can we stop pretending Bruce is doing a good job? The team has gone backwards, we are dreadful to watch, no plan at all and 5 wins in 24 games but yeh...great job
sounds like a good prospect
