I thought fans didn't like or care about this competition, so its best to play reserves, save the first choice lads for all the league games coming up. We had bigger fish to fry in days gone by. Right now we need to get some confidence into the team, BG still has not a single away win to his name so for that reason alone you would think he would front up tonight.

He's not going to play a strong side for a game that "doesn't count" is he? He's not stupid.

While I would generally say these are the kind of games we should give squad players playing time in a tin pot competition, after the improved performance in the second half Saturday maybe its time for some continuity to build on that.

Whilst I agree after Sat it would be nice to keep a settled side I think there's a bigger picture here. Looking at the schedule from now until Christmas there are a hell of a lot of midweek games so the chances are with injuries and suspensions a lot of the squad are going to be needed. If we don't blood the younger players in games like these how will we know if they can step up if & when they are needed.

Looks on Andre Junior's instagram like a lot of the academy lads are travelling down - Including Kinsly Murray from the U-18s. I don’t think Garner ever makes it easy on himself. Gets a win, has a chance to build some momentum a few days later and register an away win...but bottles it and plays a reserve side. How is that bottling it? Imagine Hanlan or Ehmer gets injured in this stupid game, you'd be down his throat then, too.

Then again why risk fatigue or injury when we've a packed fixture list coming up, plus I'm not sure our 1st team beating Oxford's weakened side is really going to be that much of a confidence booster.
