A fit Hanlan up front tonight and we'd have won that easily. Their two CBs were useless but Nicholson is no striker as we saw with his miss in the first half. Obviously frustrating to lose but you'd think we'd just been relegated to the Conference by Mansfield judging by some of the reactions on here. Do take your point - don't get me wrong. Buts it's nonetheless all ifs and buts really. The fact is we've failed to score - and barely registered a shot on target - in two games against (and I'm being serious now) two of the worst teams I've ever seen us play in a league game. We can make excuses and say "oh but what if" etc. but that is sh**e and its also alarming.

Some very harsh over the top comments on here tonight, should be used to it by now I guess but I still scratch my head at some of the nonsense posted during & after games. Granted Wigan were very poor and I'm as frustrated as everyone else that we havent won but that was certainly an improvement from Sat. Defensively we look so much better with a 4 and think that's the way we should go from now on. Nice to see Barrett back, not everything he tried came off but to me he looks the kind of player we need to persevere with, he wants the ball and its prepared to play risky passes, they wont always come off but I'd rather that than safe sideways passes that go nowhere. Poor result but I feel a lot more positive tonight than I did on Sat, give Tisdale a bit of time and I think we'll be fine

We never had a striker tonight but should have Daly and Hanlon available on Sunday. So then who gets dropped as you need to get Oztumer Nicholson McCormick Westbrooke and possibly Barrett into the side. I wont comment about the formation as Wigan were so bad it wouldn't have mattered how we lined up but I do think a back 4 is the way to go. I would rest Nicholson as playing a lot. Cant afford to lose him too. I would also rest Hanlan. I know he missed tonight but I wouldn't risk him against Darlo. Daly to start and have Oztumer and Walker up with him.

i thought we worked hard this evening and dominated the game, we deserved all three points , but it is difficult when you don't have a recognised striker. i find it difficult to believe that any manager would start a season with only one striker of league experience. Garner has made a huge mistake and it has cost us allot of points. Wael would have been paying him a decent wage yet he couldn't get the simple thing right the fact that you should have three or four strikers with some league experience in any league side. It will be difficult for Tisdale to pick up many points between now and the transfer window with such an unbalanced side.

I'm getting the feeling that some younger supporters are contagious in their opinions despite not experiencing the Eastville or Twerton years.. Fair enough but welcome to being a proper Bristol Rovers Supporter. Us Prehistoric fans have gone through more than you will ever f**king know? We've always been sh** bar the very odd good season

We played better tonight created some chances and missed a sitter, how far is Ayunga away it concerns me as thought he would be back by now.
I find it strange that Tis fancies different players to Ben, this season is going to be a strange one and just hope we have enough to stay up.
We desperately need another striker, good to see walker and Barrett getting game time.

Darlington on sunday will give a better performance than wigan tonight so dont bet on us staying in the cup! f**king disgusting! Why give a manager a complete overhaul of player personal to then sack him after 12 games and when most importantly not bad games? He was supposed to be judged on this season and his team which is now! Baffling truly baffling Wtf [br I think some would of been happy being beat every week for the BG project, (don’t start me on the word project, as used in football)

Thought it was reasonable. Ive been after a back four for a while and think we looked sturdier.
Having gone with a three man midfield wouldve prefered Westbrooke in there.
Oztumer sub was strange for me- thought he was controlling the pace of the game.
Nicholson did well playing an unfamiliar position.
I dont think anyone had a bad game

Jeez who the hell is responsible for the recruitment, not just the players but the coaches? TW says he is as happy in the boardroom as he is on the grass - well he must have been on grass if he had a say in some of these signings. Surely he has to take responsibility as head of recruitment, but Wael has promoted him, absolutely bemused by that decision. Just to think a year ago people were moaning about the style of play ! Tisdale needs to bring in his own team & quickly.

We do need another 2 strikers but Tis is shooting himself in the foot with his subs.
Ozzie, Nicholson and Lmc were looking like they would create something. Take off Upson or Grant for Westbrooke and you have an attacking triangle plus Ozzie at the top. Westbrooke is like Lines, he may be a bit weaker in the tackle but posseses that final killer ball that will win you space, possession or a shot.
We only had 2 shots after the subs, both from outside the area...that tells you everything.
Oh and Barrett would get nowehere near this squad if there werent injuries. Overweight and out of sorts still.

Much better formation tonight, with hanlan up front we can play Nicholson wide in the 4231 and both of those would have had field days tonight in their favoured positions. I’d have Tutonda on the other side of Nichols but can understand why he was rested tonight however he looks a much better option than koki who hasn’t impressed me at all so far and didn’t look an attacking wide player tonight against a poor side in any shape or form, Tutonda would have played havoc tonight. Lots of positives I don’t think any of them played badly the thing that cost us 2 points was having only 3 strikers in the squad and them all being unavailable and I’m not going to blame the team or Tisdale for that because it’s not their fault. Gutted we didn’t win but pleased with Tisdales formation and his subs and I feel very relieved to say that because I was really scratching my head on Saturday. Got to stick with this formation now it suits our squad got to get the strikers fit and JML can be quality for us in the formation too. Feeling much happier tonight than Saturday. UTG. I agree we looked much better for the formation change. Bring Hanlan back in and play Nicholson and Barrett wide with Westbrook in the central role. Those 3 can all interchange and I feel we will start to see some much improved performances Yeah with the squad we’ve got we’ve got loads of options with the 4231 we could play either westbrooke, otzumer , JML , Daley, Nicholson , Barret or Hargreaves who was brilliant v Sunderland last season in that position it only involves playing 1 forward which obviously suits the fact we hardly have any and in Upson grant wrstbrooke , Ogogo ( hopefully , if not then a new player similar mould ) and Mc cormick we’ve got options for the holding roles. We’ve got JML in the squad who was very good on loan last season but hasn’t had a look in because of the formation weve been playing all season and I think Tutonda could be excellent as a right sided attacking player cutting in on his left. Been saying it all season. Playing 3-5-2 our options are so limited and we look stodgy and predictable and that can be said for 3-5-2 under Coughlan , Garner and the caretakers who have had games here and there.

To be fair to Tisdale we looked a lot more comfortable in the system he played tonight, I also think a big positive for us was the way Barrett played when he came on. Bad points obviously a lack of firepower up-front, definitely need a striker in January who knows where the net is.

We were actually winning balls in midfield and weren't camped in our own half for 80 minutes like we were under Garner. 4 at the back has to be the way forward to get that extra man into midfield. Having no fit striker though as we only had 3 in the first place is ridiculous and from the way Daly has been used so far you could argue he isn't an out and out striker.

This team are young and part of a collective project. Whether we agree with it or not is our choice. We mustn’t criticise Tisdale as he will need time. We could really do with a sustained period of management stability.

nicholson and baldwin were championship quality and zain walker looked as though he belonged there Impressed with Baldwin but I still don't think either of them would get into a Championship team. Nicholson is decent but he lacks that clinical touch, as demonstrated in the first half.
