Not really interest in cup games and never have been. Sorry for such a poor contribution to this discussion. Life and soul of the party, as always Traditionally cup games had the potential of being the most exciting games of the season provided of course you got past the minnows and faced one of the giants. The fact that it doesn't happen that often makes it all the more special . Who can forget Liverpool home and away, Chelsea away, Fulham away? My first ever away game when i moved to Bristol was Sounthampton at The Dell in the cup with Terry Cooper as manager r and Gary Mabbut in the defence. Southampton had Keegan in their ranks and we had barely won a game all season. We got hammered but the fans sang their hearts out and celebrated as if we had just won the cup. That atmosphere and game made me realise that I would watch Rovers from thereon. Alex Ferguson was guilty of destroying part of the magic when he withdrew Man United one year and then started playing understrength teams. In my opinion the selfish Premership giants have a lot to answer for. I can’t stand Ferguson or Man United but I’m not sure that criticism is fair. I think it was a new World a club Cup competition being played in South America and the FA effectively forced the current European champions to represent UEFA - I think it was in January which clashed with the third round and they couldn’t be in two places at once and the FA came up with no other solutions.

Elite clubs like Man Utd are fortunate that they have so many good players, that they bemoan the lack of playing time their youngsters all have. There is no excuse for a club of that size not to be available to just complete their fixtures and stop whinging about it.

Cheers Alanrg. Good spot. I wasn’t going to bother but will now tune in. I feel a 1-0 victory is in order.

This guy's way too cautious, measured and articulate for my liking. Whatever happened to stuff like "squeaky bum time" and the like! Is your defender Michael Liddle related to ex Darlo player Craig Liddle at all? His son Ben plays for Bristol Rovers and might make his full debut on Saturday.

If Ben's even half as good as his dad was, he'll do all right in the game.
Here's hoping we don't do a King's Lynn on Sunday . I'd like to think we'll be more a Brackley.... but with goals!

National North Chorley just won 2-1 at Peterborough! Hopefully that will be a warning for our lads tomorrow.

As my fellow Darlo fan says hopefully we'll have more goals in us than Brackley did yesterday and put in a performance like Chorley have done today. Standard wise National League North is stronger than the 3 division gap suggests. On our day we are capable of matching any team (realistically League 1 and below) as the previous result Vs Swindon suggests. I am probably 40-60 against us beating you guys tomorrow just as we are carrying some players with injuries and Erico Sousa (tricky winger we signed from Tadcaster off the back of Qualifying R3) is cup tied. It'll be an interesting tie but expecting you to have just slightly more than us, hoping obviously from our perspective to be proven completely wrong!

Amazing result for Chorley today against a pretty strong posh side. Just goes to show the magic of the FA cup. Good luck for tomorrow, let's hope it's a cracking cup tie.

National North Chorley just won 2-1 at Peterborough! Hopefully that will be a warning for our lads tomorrow. Chorley are also 7 places below Darlo in their table, so shows what can happen. The fact Darlo have already beaten Swindon should also serve as a warning. The standard at National North/South level has improved year on year and there are numerous players that could play in the league.

"could" but how many actually step up each season and make a career out of it? Mensah, Partington and Matthews from the NL never made it with us and Ayunga from the NLS has spent most of the time since he was signed out injured. It seems a lot easier to sign a known quantity from a league club than take a gamble on a non-league player, Tutonda is a good example, he looked brilliant for a few games but now he'll struggle to dislodge Leahy for the LB role.

Some of the ones to have made a successful transition from non-league over the years are Jamie Vardy, Chris Smalling, Nick Pope, Ben Foster, Charlie Austin, Dwight Gayle, Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, Ashley Barnes, Craig Dawson, Tyrone Mings, Jarrod Bowen, Solly March, Michail Antonio, Che Adams, Max Kilman, Joe Aribo, Yannick Bolasie, Harry Arter, Anthony Pilkington, Craig Noone, Lee Gregory, Joe Lolley, Aden Flint, Lyle Taylor, Kieffer Moore, Jamal Lowe, Albert Adomah, Jordan Hugill, Erhun Oztumer, Marcus Maddison, Sam Clucas, Ashley Williams and Lee Tomlin.

Think we all know that we could lose tomorrow. But let’s be honest, it’ll still be an embarrassment if we do.
Will be nice to watch us on TV though in HD, good commentary, actual analysis etc - been far too long
