It's handball. Head is nowhere near it. Look at the refs view too. Unbelievable. He should be sent to Sunday league for 10 games after that. To be fair to the Ref he immediately pointed to the spot but the idiot of a linesman on that side got him to change his mind. Pity the lino on our side of the pitch was not over there, he was head and shoulders better than him all game.

I'm kind of glad it wasn't given now especially if Barnet know they have got away with it.
Because if they got away with that and still lost then they may start having real doubts about whether they are the best team in this league.

Sorry. Defo a header. Pretty clear to most around the right hand side of the Blackthorn. His arm went up to give him the impetus to head it up and over. Did you not look at that picture?

Yes. And by then he has headed the ball and it's on its way up and over. Doesn't matter where his hand is coz he didn't touch it with anything other than his head.

Bad decision from the ref. He should only use his assistant when he has not seen an incident . The ref clearly saw the player head/handball and clearly decided it was a handball infringement. To take the view of someone three times further away on a worse angle was wrong.
He will definitely be pulled up on it at the FA.

Well, I'm kinda amazed that you should still think that. It seems pretty clear from the line of the smudge of the ball, and from viewing the vid in conjunction with the pic that that is not the case. Still, hooray for different opinions at the football, I guess.

Yeah, it's also a brilliant refutation for those people who say you should just accept the ref's decision. While refs get swayed like that by players whining, players will whine. I loved the way the ref booked Monkhouse, the first chance he got as well, to prove he wouldn't be swayed by players (or the crowd, I guess). Total knobby.

I was right there behind it and he just headed it. The video is misleading because his arm goes up at the same time, but it was his head. Also, there was a one- second delay before everyone went mad, after the standard ooooooh of a near miss. IMO a sort of collective hypnosis then set in! Sorry markash, but you seem to have been collectively hypnotised. Unless the video is some miracle of CGI, that was a clear handball. Sending off, 2-0 up and importantly a rival with a key player suspended. I hope the ref and the linesman are made to sit down and watch the video - I can't see how any right thinking person would stand by that decision despite the evidence.

It's a shame, but I don't think anyone at the FA cares about refereeing decisions made in the Conference. They can't based on the evidence this season.

We won anyway, so what the heck.

Also, I noticed the reactions of people around me growing steadily more outraged as they got into the handball fever, rather than the instant explosion of really seeing it. Fascinating how firmly divided opinion is though. Like witnesses at a car crash. One word for the officials: when our goal was given at the end, should we all have sung, "You DO know what you're doing!"? Just in the interests of fairness?

Blimey, we're not a jury, we're football fans. I shouted that the ref didn't know what he was doing without having a clue what happened with the handball. I'm happy to take a fair view of the game when discussing it afterwards, but at the time, it's perfectly acceptable, I would say even desirable, to be biased in our support of the club. Surely? What were you singing? 'You may know what you're doing: it's hard to tell what with the speed of the game and the difficult conditions!' Oh, and it turns out you were completely wrong about it, anyway, so so much for your fair-mindedness and scrupulously neutral observations.

Last night I watched it and thought clear hand ball, today I think he headed it lol. That picture shows nothing as you can't see if its touching his hand or behind it.

The idea that something could only happen if someone confesses to it is bizarre.

Well i was in the gods in the Uplands looking down on it and I immediately said handball before anyone around me did. My mate who sits lower down and further along also told me at half time that he was certain it was handball . The referee must also have thought he saw something or he wouldnt have gone over to the lino to take his opinion. Still as we all know now it did not affect the outcome of the game.

On a side note and following Hugo's excellent post the other day. If posters used the 3 words "In my opinion" it may save an awful lot of animosity. Just saying
