I understand the politics although not too sure about the actual economics. I guess he needs to keep the largely Brexit voting north onside and prevent the Conservatives using it against him. "Sir Keir will also repeat his promise not to re-establish the EU's free movement rules in the UK, arguing instead he would seek new flexibilities for short work trips and touring musicians. The Labour leader will say new trade barriers with Europe have created a "fatberg of red tape" for business to follow. He will liken the economic effect of Brexit to the "wet wipe island" blocking the river Thames, adding: "It is hampering the flow of British business — we will break that barrier down." As part of a plan to "make Brexit work", the Labour leader will promise to: strike a new UK-wide agreement the EU on veterinary standards in a bid to cut red tape for British food exportersrestore the mutual recognition of professional qualifications and rules for testing products across "specified sectors"negotiate a "new security pact" with the EU to enable the sharing of more policing data and intelligence He will also promise a new approach to post-Brexit border arrangements for Northern Ireland, which have proved highly unpopular among unionists." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62034754

He can say that, get elected and negotiate a proper FTA with the EU.

If people believe Starmer they'll believe anything. Don't get me wrong he's playing a blinder to recapture the lost Labour vote of the North. It's a case of Vote Starmer...get Blair...rejoin the EU.

It would have to be a pretty insane lie to promise to not take us into the EU and then go straight into the EU. Not even sure Boris would he capable of a lie of such magnitude. On top of that, I’d be amazed even if he did do it, that we’d be able to get into the EU within 4 years. I think you’re letting your hatred for Labour get the better of you here FG

Get it 'done' lol. The perfect trope for those who care little for detail. Used in a project with an immense level of detail. No wonder we are cooked.

Remember the farmers for Brexit signs in all those fields ? 🙄 Oh well what a shame for them. Maybe they can start selling all those chickens that are coming home to roost.
