I see Roger has signed a letter to Govt. Moaning about the movement of musicians around Europe This sums things up perfectly. The only positive in my view is it seems some of the people now complaining seem to have been well documented previously dismissing the very things they are now angry about. “B-b-b-but we knew what we voted for” It’s becoming very apparent that they didn’t.

Politics getting in the way again? "A diplomatic row has broken out between the UK and EU over the status of the bloc's ambassador in London. The UK is refusing to give Joao Vale de Almeida the full diplomatic status that is granted to other ambassadors. The Foreign Office is insisting he and his officials should not have the privileges and immunities afforded to diplomats under the Vienna Convention. It is understood not to want to set a precedent by treating an international body in the same way as a nation state. The British decision is in marked contrast to 142 other countries around the world where the EU has delegations and where its ambassadors are all granted the same status as diplomats representing sovereign nations. A European Commission spokesman said: "The UK, as a signatory to the Lisbon Treaty, is well aware of the EU's status in external relations, and was cognisant and supportive of this status while it was a member of the EU. "The EU has 143 delegations, equivalent to diplomatic missions, around the world. Without exception, all host states have accepted to grant these delegations and their staff a status equivalent to that of diplomatic missions of states under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and the UK is well aware of this fact." He added: "Nothing has changed since the UK's exit from the European Union to justify any change in stance on the UK's part." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55742664

A win for British manufacturers, fewer imports. "I had no idea at all I was going to be charged any more for deliveries after Brexit. The extra costs were definitely a bit of a shock." Ellie Huddleston, a 26-year-old Londoner, thought she would treat herself to some new work clothes in the January sales. Having spotted a bargain, she placed an order for a coat and a number of blouses from two of her favourite clothes brands based in Europe. But both deliveries were delayed, held up in customs checks for at least a week, she says. She was surprised when she then received a text from courier company DPD, containing a link asking her to pay £58 in customs duties, VAT and additional charges for her £180 order. On top of that, the UPS courier for the second parcel showed up at her door several days later, asking for an extra payment of £82 for her £200 coat. These charges, imposed by new government rules, have to be collected by the courier firms on the authorities' behalf. "I didn't even know when the parcels would be coming - so I sent both back without paying the extra fees and won't be ordering anything from Europe again any time soon," Ellie says. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55734277

You’re starting to rant, calm down. You say you didn’t put words in my mouth, which you did, but are quite prepared to predict what I might be thinking next? As for your voting activity, you’ve told us you didn’t vote Labour, you clearly hate the Tories so it’s safe to assume you didn’t vote for them, which means you either voted tactically or refrained entirely. Perhaps you could point out what other body, apart from the private sector, that would be in a position to deal with sourcing, packing and delivering thousands of food boxes across the country every day? Which countries have we voted to trade with that practice genocide and which no other country apart from ours trade with? What money has the present government cut from families struggling to stay afloat? As an aside from my last question, would you support a cut in foreign aid to ensure that no-one in this country goes without? And finally. Calm down. You’ll give yourself wind. It’s not a rant, that’s just my writing style, long sentences. Again, I didn’t put words in your mouth but we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one as it’s going round in circles now. Where free school meals are concerned, it isn’t a question of whether there is any other means of sourcing or delivering the food to children, I have no doubt that private sector firms can do a decent job at that. It’s a question of why the government found it acceptable to give contracts to companies that offered an abysmal offering that any parent would find tricky to sustain their child for more than a day or two. A food voucher was always the more sensible approach, so a parent could choose how to feed their own child but I suppose far too sensible for the Tories. Seems like your again mistaken about foreign trade, it’s not about trading with countries that commit genocide, it’s about making trade deals with countries that commit genocide, there’s a difference. There are plenty of countries that don’t have trade agreements with South Sudan, Syria, China. The vote yesterday opens the door for our country to do so. This is what I meant in my previous post although reading it back I may have expressed it poorly, so apologies. The Government is ending the £20 increase to UC in march, amounting to £6bn in welfare benefits when families suffering the economic effects of the pandemic need the money the most. This is what I referred to in my earlier post. No I don’t support a cut in foreign aid, no matter what else it would be spent on. There’s another 99.3% of GDP that can be spent on British citizens. Just to reiterate, this isn’t a rant either, just a response to the barrage of questions you asked me. Interesting article in today’s Telegraph saying that the EU are about to sign a trade deal with China, despite China’s appalling HR record and lawless behaviour, after 7 years of negotiation. I’ll bet you’re heartily glad we’ve left the EU, so your repulsion at the thought of trading with China wont be realised.

Of course had we been members we could have vetoed it, except that we appear to be happy to deal regardless.

The EU isn’t a sovereign nation, it is, as you Remainers have explained in God knows how many posts over the past year or so, a benevolent and loose collection of European nations with no intention of total political, legal and financial harmonisation. You cant have it both ways.

Would that make the UK any different to any other country? People moan on here at us trading with China when the sainted EU have agreed a complete deal with China. Not a word on that. Every other country in the world trades with China, I believe trade with them was encouraged to help them develop and move out of the 3rd world. Everyone held their noses, turned a blind eye to their atrocious HR activities and intellectual theft on an imdustrial scale and traded with them because they sold us goods cheaper than anywhere else. Now they’ve got military muscle and will soon be in a position to challenge America and the West everyone’s getting a bit concerned. We still send them Foreign Aid, FFS, and Axe would rather do that than feed our own kids. He’s said so on here.

Genuine question. I doubt many electrical items at Curry’s have been made anywhere other than China, and we hold our noses and ignore their despotic criminal behaviour because they’re cheap and we don’t want to be accused of being racist. We even send them Foreign Aid, FFS. What’s that all about? And because we didn’t want to offend them, when their chief criminal made a state visit when that shitbag Cameron was PM, the govt made the Metropolitan Police quell any demonstrations against the Chinese regime whilst he was here. Compare that with the demonstrations and lawlessness when Trump visited a couple of years ago.

Do we have a similar deal with China? Nothing official as yet but it's being contemplated and we are both keen on the TPP successor so could get one by default.

Oldgas is getting absolutely battered yet he still comes back for more . The Germans must have a word for this ? Haha they do ...... selbst zugefügter Schmerz I see you’ve fallen back n the Lefts tried and trusted tactic of trying to encourage all your mates to gang up on someone who doesn’t agree with you. As for getting battered by you? Do me a favour. It would require someone with considerably more intellect than you to achieve that. I doubt you’d get a job in a chippie, your batterings so poor. You also seem to have a poor memory to compliment your intellect. I thought you weren’t talking to me anymore Snowy. I wish you’d go back to that, I find you boring and tiresome.
