I expect Sheffield Utd to beat us. I say this because they aren’t going to want to be knocked out of the FA cup by a league 1 side when they can’t buy a league point, never mind a win. They are as good as down to my mind, so will be treating T’coop as a way of lightening a gloomy season. However, I will be watching avidly on iPlayer with my lad in the hope of the unexpected. Is it on the BBC red button this time. ??I'm sure I read it was only on BT ??

We could have said the same when we played non League sides in the past, however, we know full well it's not easy to step up a gear or two when you're having a poor season. If we're ever going to beat a Premiership side at the Mem this must be our best chance, assuming we can put out a decent side. Will Ehmer now be suspended or does his suspension for 5 bookings only apply to league games?

Finished my reffing career at Brammall Lane in 1992.Morning KO when Leeds beat them 3.2 and as liverpool beat Man U 4-0 later that afternoon,it turned out to be the title decider.Only ran the line but nice to finish on a top game.Howard Wilkinson was manager. Amazingly used to stage a Test Match there once and in those far off days it was a three sided ground. Which side was missing?

Is it on the BBC red button this time. ??I'm sure I read it was only on BT ?? It is. Only on Bt sport and Radio 5 live. Confirmed to me by Tom Gorringe last week. It's been discussed on a number of threads, here is the BBC web page detailing all the games and where they will be shown - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55276890We're on BT Sport Extra4. I'm not sure how to get this specific channel - I have the BT basic package with my internet service but this only gives BT Sport1 as I understand it.

Great stuff 1883. Yes, we’ve got a great chance here. Their confidence is low. When AFCB got relegated last July I was talking to some I sit with at Dean Court and told them not to worry, by the time we’re all back watching football, Bournemouth would be near the top of the Championship and Sheff U and Burnley would be staring relegation in the face. I was only half joking Sheff U are going down and Burnley are making a fight of it. Ramsdale is a good keeper but I doubt he’ll play. Having watched Mousset at AFCB before he went to Sheff U I can say he’s absolutely useless with no pace. (Perhaps that’s why he needs a Lamborghini which he obviously can’t drive either). I wonder how many of them played at the Mem when they drew here 0-0 in the season they went up? I would imagine it could be 2/3/4. Any statto know? I like Wilder, feet firmly on the ground, he’s no billy-big-b***** but I reckon some of his players have turned into one. He’s been let down by them this season. I’ll go for a draw and a win on pens. Hopefully! 😉 UTG!

On one hand you look at SUFC and their league status and think against a low morale struggling team rovers have a good chance. On the other hand you think they will want to win this game badly to try to kick start their season.
Going to be a tough game and interesting to see how it goes.
Day
Ehmer Kilgour Baldwin Leahy
Grant Upson
Nicolson Oztumer or westbrooke McCormick
Hanlan

This has cupset written all over it! Especially now we have signed Day on loan as I was worried about JVS starting against them. I think we are going to do them you know! 😝👀

Would you expect Joe Day to come straight in against Sheffield Utd?

Interesting reading through posts about the team they may put out. Either a strong team for a cup run, in the face of a certain(?) relegation, or blood the young'uns in the cup whilst they fight for their PL status.
If relegation is nailed-on, I'd offer they expect to lose their top players. The youngsters might still be there after a relegation, and so perhaps that could be more of a chance to get some game time in for the players who will remain?
Hmmmm 🤔

Well spotted, I think I'd be banking on giving experience to those players that are going to stay then. Are Sheffield a dead-cert for going down then? Or just an abysmal first 3rd of the season?

So far, the blades have had an awful start to the premiership season after being solid and darn right impressive last term. They have played a number of formations in their matches this season but mainly focused on 3 at the back and majority of the time was a 3-5-2. The handful of goals they have managed this season have come from McGoldrick (4) then McBurnie, Berge and Sharp all netting 1. McGoldrick 1.8 and McBurnie 1.5 take the most Shots per game Gas comparison: Nicholson 2.0 and Hanlan 2.0 then Ozzy 1.6 Key passes per game for them is 'FPL legend' John Lundstram 1.1 and John Fleck 1.0 Gas comparison: Westbrooke 1.9 & Josh Hare 1.4 with Ozzy on 1.1
Winning the ball back are Max Lowe 3.5, Ethan Ampadu 2.5 (Tis was instramental in his development), Enda Stevens 2.4 and Chris Basham 2.3 Tackles per game Gas comparison: Cian Harries 2.2 with Mark Little 2.0 then Josh Grant 1.9 & Dave Tutonda with 1.7 (only one of these now seem make the starting XI so Kilgour 1.6 and Baldwin 1.5 are worth showing)Clearances per game wise they have a host of talent all with varied minutes Eagan 4.3, O'Connell 3.5, Jagielka 3.5, Basham 3.4, Robinson 2.9 and Stevens 2.8 Gas comparison: Cian Harries 5.8, Jack Baldwin 5.6, Max Ehmer 4.5, Luke Leahy 3.4 and Alfie Kilgour 2.9*Please note - League stats only + Strengths
Aerial duels Strong - Weaknesses
Avoiding offside Weak Keeping possession of the ball Weak Avoiding fouling in dangerous areas Weak Defending against attacks down the wings Weak Defending against through ball attacks Weak Defending against skillful players Weak Finishing scoring chances Very Weak Defending against long shots Very Weak Defending set pieces Very Weak Sheffield United's Style of Play
Play with width Attacking down the right Control the game in the opposition's half Long balls Attempt crosses often Aggressive Yes they are having a real bad time in the Prem and this is a side that you would probably want to come up against if you wanted a 'beatable' premiership side. Very low on confidence, a few sending offs, concentrating on the league survival so maybe wont risk they key players. BUT... they are premier league standard and such we shouldn't take too much notice of the 'weak' parts of their game above. You would expect them to be a physical side that are well drilled and with the overlapping centre back tactics, not many managers would have come against that before, so we need to be aware and exploit space where ever we can. Tis will enjoy this one as he loves playing against sides where we his team are the underdogs. Imagine he can get us raring to go in this match (could the same be said for our opponents?) Expected team to play: ---------------------------JvS------------------------- ---Ehmer---- Kilgour ------- Baldwin ------Leahy-- -----Westbrooke------- Upson-----McCormick------ --------------------------Oztumer------------------- ---------------Hanlan--------Nicholson-------------- You only have to look at the Sheffield united squad to remind yourselves of the quality they possess (current international players (at the highest level), past international players, future international players!) Solid manager and tactition who has come unstuck this term in the Prem but previously bossed the leagues and produced excellent results. This one will be tough, very tough. We will need to be strong (something we failed when up against Gillingham) and we will need our dynamic flair players to be on it big time if we are going to progress. In the previous league game Crystal Palace player Eberechi Eze did a "Sam Nicholson" to score a great goal which proves that they can be carved open. Get Ozzy, Hanlan and Nicholson on together and an upset we may have. My Prediction - Hard, hard battle. 3-2 Gas Win What do you think? What would you do? I would change Hare for Baldwin and move Ehmer to CH. I would drop Upson for Rodman and play him in front of Hare and have them overlap a la Browner and Monkhouse, move Nicholson to the left and play Ozzie in behind Hanlan in a 442/4411. We were terrible down the right against Blackpool and Luke Garbutt (Would love Garbutt here BTW) he made absolute mincemeat of Ehmer in that position. It was his tiring and subsequent injury and substitution that saved our bacon on Saturday. Also whenever Ehmer found himself in a good attacking position he lacked the ability to whip in a cross. Against a prem side no matter how poor they are, you need to take those opportunities. Baldwin was at fault for the first goal, he should have gotten a foot on it and put it out for a corner too. We are getting found out pretty quickly with our current set up.
