The football club obviously decided not 2 take the risk with regard 2 the 22 man squad unfortunately due 2 his injury record I do not think we will see him in the blue and white quarters again

He could break down for Barrow though. Not like we havent always got a CB on the bench anyway. If fit to play IMO you play your best players and he is one of the better, if not THE best CB we have. But he’s not proved he’s fully match fit yet (he won’t be as he hasn’t played any matches so will take a few matches at least to get there) and with a 22 man limit, to play him we’d have to name him in that 22 meaning someone else misses out and if he then breaks down we won’t necessarily have someone to come in and cover. Also we wouldn’t be able to recall a player and play them as they wouldn’t have been named in the list. Completely the right decision as he’ll gain fitness and matches there and whilst his contract expires in the summer, it wouldn’t surprise me if he got offered a new contract as I believe Tis is an admirer and he has impressed the coaching staff with his attitude and recovery. Or he may come in and steady our defence for the first time this season? I know its a risk but so is playing any of the other CBs at the moment

I know its a risk but so is playing any of the other CBs at the moment True.... but personally I think the last few games our CBs have done ok and I’m guessing Tis is thinking if he gets a new RB then he has Ehmer who can go back in there... I think he’s gone for the ‘lower risk option’ and possibly been swayed by not wanting us to be caught out when we are currently so close to the bottom.... I’m hoping Davies does well, gets fit and fully recovers to come back to us in the summer where we then maybe offer him a 1 / 2 year deal again as I do really rate him...

Amazing the reaction from some gasheads. If he was kept and not included in the squad people would have been complaining we’d kept on a player who is an injury risk. He’s not played in over 12 months has he? If he’s fit, he’s likely to be a fraction of where he was when he was at his best for us. We can’t risk his fitness. Totally agree, loan him out, get him fit at a level that is not as hectic as Div 1. Makes absolute sense to me.

Good decision. When fully fit he is a shoe in for one of the centre back spots. But that's the problem. He hasn't been fully fit for a long time and it looks unlikely that he will feature this season. He needs match practice at a lower less demanding level. If that works out and he has no injury setbacks he will be a great asset next season. Davies and Kilgour would be formidable at the back.

The fact is we need a striker !. Sadly we need to off load higher wage earners in order to accommodate an incoming player . There is probably 4_6 players I would loan out before tom. But can we say 100% a team will come in for liddle Kelly tutonda Hargreaves etc ?.
We have 5 centre Half's and 3 strikers . Hopefully it will be 4 -4 very soon. If we can loan out any of the 4 I mentioned. Then we could loan in a centre half later in the window.
I'm sure tom will do well and will get a contract by a division one club this summer.

Why evidence that's really the case? If we did why didn't we let D&R extend Ogogo's loan? If Wael can find £m's this season to build the training ground I'm sure he can find a few £K's to sign a striker in order to try and ensure we remain a L1 side next season. The fact is Davies needs to be playing first team football and there's no guarantee he will be if he stays at Rovers.

He may have wanted to go out on loan to get a run of games in.staying here would probably have spent the season on the bench

I'll admit to being disappointed by this news.
I just hope there is a recall clause in the contract. Not sure how it fits with the salary cap , but if he is able to get match fit with Barrow and we are in a relegation scrap, Tom Davies is exactly the defender we would need.

I'm not sure we can assume League 2 / National league clubs (Bennett, Davies, Ogogo) will pay all of their salaries. I also wonder how much of Meyaneses salary is now being paid by Grimsby to Mansfield?

Probably a good decision but I hope he comes back fit and ready to be part of next season as our player. One of our more consistent performers imo and plenty good enough for us. But in our position we can’t risk him breaking down again, so loan him out so he gets games, help Barrow out and hope he comes back for next season. Mind you Barrow is a difficult place to get to, not exactly central. Shows a good attitude that he’s prepared to go there to get games. Good luck Tom. UTG!

Cracking bit of business for Barrow that. Far too good for L2, let’s hope he can get back to fitness ASAP and retake his place soon.
All the best, Tom.

A real shame, possibly our best defender when fully fit. Maybe the coaches have seen that he is not the same player as he was before the injuries. Best of luck to him!

As an example, if a player is on £2k per week with us we might get £500-£1000k from them. It depends on who the player is I suppose. When a player drops into non league it’s unlikely we get anything. For example we were paying all of Mensahs wages when he went on loan.

Our best defender is allowed to join a club in a lower division. Where tge feck is the sense in that? I would sooner play him than Baldwin,Ehmer Kilgour and Harries. Agree 100% with this
