Bristol Rovers Retail Panel by fans, for fans
Hey everyone, just an update from the Retail Panel letting you know what we've been up to for the past four months. As you might have seen on the club's social media outlets, we have launched our first fan-created product, which is a polo shirt of our own design. When we asked fans what they wanted in the club shop, the thing we were told time and time again is that there isn't enough casual-wear available, and the products that are in store have a club badge on that stands out too much and draws away from the casual style. So what we wanted to do was create a smaller badge that was still Bristol Rovers, but didn't draw too much attention away from the shirt as a whole. We wanted people to be able to go to the pub wearing it, without the general public instantly associating that person to a football club, but those in the know would still be able to approach that person knowing they were a Gashead.
The video is here, if anyone hasn't seen it.
The polo shirt is available online or in-store now for £19.99. Snap 'em up before Christmas.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated, because at the end of the day we are creating merchandise for the fanbase. Let us know what you want in store.
Hopefully, if most people are happy with this 1883 design and want to see more, we can expand it into a premium range of casual-wear (Jackets, jumpers, cardigans) to differ from the existing sportswear and replica kits. What would you like us to do next?
Post your feedback here, on twitter (@brfcretailpanel) or email us at retailpanel@bristolrovers.co.uk
Thanks guys!

I'm gonna be brutally honest (as what's the point in feedback otherwise): 1) The "black" colour looks very faded and therefore old/second-hand 2) £19.99 is unbelievably optimistic and IMO hugely overpriced - £9.99 and we might sell a few 3) Not MASSIVELY keen on the design. @ras put something far better together IMO that looked much higher quality and just all-round better Pretty scathing review I'll admit. But I'm just being honest. All in my opinion of course Edit: That said, it does look quite a bit better when being worn, as per the pic. I think it's a case of "almost" there - but IMO I'd have made a few tweaks.

Right, I'm gonna sound like a right see you next Tuesday here but that looks dreadful.
Sorry as I know the retail panel are trying to do their best but like Roverdrive I'm just being honest.

I really liked the plain black stuff just with the skull and cross bones and 1883 on it written in a piratey font. I don't really like this new one got to be honest.

It looks like the Gola stuff that nobody wanted to be seen in in the 80s and 90s.

We tried several designs but went with the single sword. We trailed quartered designs, crossed swords, having the 1883 in squares. The panel (about ten of us) settled on this one. We understand we aren't going to please everyone but that's why we are trailing this - to get the general reception of it.
The polo itself is good quality and the photos don't do them justice. Have a feel of one next time you're in store.
But I stress this is a trial and we want to work around what you guys want from a premium range.
We're also looking into other things (non 1883 range related) such as phone cases, scarves, retro merchandise and next seasons kits. For us it's about expanding what's available to you.

Sorry but it's a no from me too, it looks like a £4.99 job from Matalan , the sword emblem is shocking . £19.99 ? Not a chance.
Good idea guys but a vast improvement needs to be made I think
Sorry for the poor review but honesty is the best policy me old Dad used to say

I think there is an age divide on this possibly....
younger fans who wear skinny jeans and fred perry tops will like it, but some older fans will think f@ck paying £20 for a polo shirt....
maybe you'll do well with sales if you attract the right market....

Wouldn't normally get involved with a subject like this, but I have to say fair play to you guys involved and good luck with it. I am in the camp of negativity with what I can see in the picture, but saying that constructive critisism is fine, and I am sure that is what the remarks are, if you walk a blind alley you will usually not succeed! keep up the good work take all opinions and fingers crossed you will come up with the goods.

Sorry to say but I have seen better in poundland. Also and this is just a personal thing, if I want to buy Rovers merchandise I would want it to say Bristol Rovers on it somewhere or at least be recognisable as something Rovers related. Its a good idea if you like non Rovers branded Rovers things but the quality of the material is really low quality and the price crazy.
Have you thought of doing something similar to the St Pauli stuff ? or just Rovers icon t shirts ? Chewbakka on the I.F was going to make a load as the club turned down his idea

One sword makes it look unfinished! I liked the polo I saw in the shop yesterday but I think they made the really neat monochrome badge about 3 times too big. Shame as it was nearly great. Sorry. I preferred Ras's one too.

The shirt isn't bad but I definitely think the logo should have two swords.

Like the fact supporters are involved.
My only thoughts are: You need people involved who are in marketing/design. I admire the have-a-go mentality, but the logo is a little too Microsoft Paint for me. I also think fans in general should have had samples to vote on rather than just gone ahead with.
BTW, Quality looks fine to me, simplicity of design ok and fwiw i think you'll sell a few.

BTW, Quality looks fine to me, simplicity of design ok and fwiw i think you'll sell a few. We had a professional design the logo. It's far from Microsoft paint, don't mean to sound uppity about it but we had an expert source us several designs. We also have a range of skills on the panel, and we don't design/make the stuff ourselves, the club puts us in touch with people who CAN create the products that fans are asking for. Ask and you shall receive, as they say. So the general feeling I'm getting is that the polo shirt is poor quality and the logo is unpopular. I have the polo myself and im more than happy with the quality of it, the ones on the rack look creased and worn to be fair. This is a starting point and we want to improve, with your feedback. I need more than "don't like it" though guys, I need something to work on. What would you like to see?

if I was going to design one myself (which I don't have time for right now) i'd go for something based on this: but people will hate it too, so I respect the hard work you are doing....

Why not make some t shirts with club legends on it ? Or pirate t shirts st pauli style with the gas written underneath

I thought the shirt quality looked alright to be honest.
I still think 20 quid is too expensive though. You need to be in the 15 bracket for me. Maybe I'm just poor. Or cheap. Or both.
