I would t speak too soon. Ayunga 2 finishes absolute quality fair play to him. Hanlan however worst performance in a gas shirt. Appalling. Been saying Hanlan is absolutely rubbish for months. Runs hard but has no end product, and can't hold the ball up like Ayunga. Given his poor finishing record this season I struggle to see what he offers. Then you have been wrong for months. Hanlan can develop into a really good striker...not a good game today but he will become more consistent

His 1st touch is non existent yet he seems to be in a hold up role before tonight. Didn’t do much tonight but think he’s better suited with another striker. Daly and ayunga hasn’t been tried yet. He’s scored 8 goals, considering he isn’t a striker that’s not bad

Point of this was to give huge kudos to Jonah. Not to criticise hanlan ffs.

But I grew up in the 90’s when Rovers would usually have at least 1 quite often 2 strikers banging them in season after season.

Correct he is but how many from open play and hasn't scored in 11/12 games.

Iirc he isn’t a striker by trade, he was a winger at Gillingham and seems to have been brought in to play the role of making the ball stick in the final third. Goal scoring isn’t “his thing”

Given his poor finishing record this season I struggle to see what he offers. He was really good at the start of the season. Skinned people and won penalties. I don’t know what’s happened either. I don’t think he’s rubbish, I think he is out of form. I genuinely would say play Daly. Being dropped can be good to regain some form. Competition may get the extra 10% he needs. IMO he's been flogged to death up front on his own with no service at all and playing Saturday/Tuesday every week.

Like you have stated, he runs and runs quickly. His job is to win what is flicked on, played through defences, chase the keeper down and create space for others with his movement. His conversion rate on chances is actually very good. His form dipped the moment Tisdale was appointed. Hanlan probably wont get you 20 goals a season. But he will get you a good 15 and if you combine that with someone who is a natural finisher who will get you another 15-20 then youll have a front line good enough for promotion. Its a shame we couldnt land Gnanduliett, he would have been the perfect player to play with Hanlan. Equally as pacey, strong and tall, wins most in the air and can also finish.

Yeah, probably our most willing player through some god-awful team form, rewarded for that by being written off.

Ayunga two quality goals and with his size should be bullying teams like last night, looking good, posed more threat with two strikers.
Nicho and Brandon had quiet games by their standards but both are quality, and like Daly a lot.

I said some time ago Hanlan was startping to look tired having to do the work up front often on his own, he needs a break, would put Daly in now for a few games, thought Auyunga showed Strength power and skill for his goals, bet he was over the moon to be able to put two fingers up to the club that snubbed him.
