At the moment, it looks like only 7 clubs are involved in the relegation battle. 6 pointers will be important, well all games are now important of course, but 6 pointers even more so. So I have had a look to see who in the bottom 7 have any 6 pointers left. These games will not be easy (as we've seen in our recent games vs Wigan and Burton) as we are all fighting for survival. But win these games and you put distance between you and them. Here are the 6 pointer battles remaining.
18th: Burton: 16 games to go and 3 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Wimbledon (A), Swindon (H), Wigan (A)
19th: Swindon: 14 games to go and 5 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Rovers (A), Rochdale (A), Burton (A), Wimbledon (A), Wigan (A)
20th: Gas: 15 games to go and 3 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Wimbledon (H), Swindon (H), Northampton (A)
21st: Wimbledon: 16 games to go and 6 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Burton (H), Rovers (A), Wigan (H), Rochdale (H), Northampton (H), Swindon (H)
22nd: Northampton: 14 games to go and 2 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Wimbledon (A), Rovers (H)
23rd: Rochdale: 14 games to go and 2 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Wimbledon (A), Swindon (H)
24th: Wigan: 14 games to go and 3 are against the bottom 7 sides vs Wimbledon (A), Burton (H), Swindon (H)

Wimbledon look well placed to survive. They play all 6 relegation rivals in their last 16 games and 5 of the 6 are at home.
Swindon play 5 of their 6 relegation rivals but all away from home.

Add to that Burton's post January good form and it looks like the battle could be down to just 5 clubs battling to avoid the 4 relegation spots! We somehow need to stay outside the bottom 4 this week.

The interesting thing is with so many of the bottom 7 having to play each other, assuming one wins and the other loses, it gives more opportunities to climb away and out of it as long as we win our games....

We somehow need to stay outside the bottom 4 this week. We are looking more solid in defence, just need to do something we haven't regularly done all season and score some goals

I’ve got a feeling all the teams will lose today so no ground lost. However if any one does get a result it will be a real bonus in trying to get out of trouble

I would say at the moment based on current form and remaining fixtures Wigan and Rochdale look the most likely to go down. Possibly Northampton too leaving the last relegation place wide open. The problem is if everyone takes points off each other it will go down to the wire. I hope that one or two teams start to get left behind soon but I don’t think that will happen.

Remember when alison took over and told the team to shoot. Seems like that’s what we need now.
Please ignore the fact we got relegated anyway!

What are our stats / record against the bottom teams to this point?
I’ve looked back through the results from our first game and to me it’s the losses against Wigan, Burton, Rochdale that will relegate us not Hull, Peterborough and Lincoln etc.
Our first loss against a “bottom half” club didn’t come until the 21st November under Tis against Swindon. I think that was our 13th league game so just under a 1/3 of the way in to the season.
In our last 3 games we have lost to Wigan and Burton, I agree the performances have looked good but two losses out of three against relegation rivals is our problem.
We proved early in the season we can stay unbeaten to the teams around us. That is what we need to stay up.
The odd result will come against the Sunderlands, Lincoln’s of this league which is a bonus.
Stay unbeaten against the bottom 10 teams from now until May and we stay up.

Great o p.
Out of the 6 accompanying teams, 12 matches, we have only won 2 (Wimbledon & Northampton) with 3 matches to play.
2 wins out of 9 matches v the bottom teams isn't good enough and the losses v Wigan and Burton have given our rivals much needed points, and left us missing out on 6 points where we would be much safer.
If we can't beat teams around us, where are we going to pick points up from?

Or did you simply mash the keypad?

I think we have done better against the top six teams (based on points per game) compared to the bottom six teams. I do fee though however that if Wigan was JB’s 2nd or 3rd game in charge we would have got at least a point and if we can play like we did last weekend against Swindon and Wimbledon we should be easily winning both of those.
