A bit hard to grade players in a truly woeful game of football but here goes.

Jak. 7. Good save

Williams. 6

Leahy 7. He looked like he was going to lose it with the ref a couple of times. Our best player today.

Martinez. 6
Upson 6. Unlucky with a shot but didn’t do much for a player of his experience
McCormick. 6.5.
Westbrooke. 7. Someone moaned about his dead ball abilities. We scored from his corner. And that corner was conceded following a good save from the keeper from a header from another of his corners. Let’s look at the good as well as the not so good. And he played a lovely little ball in the second half which had Ayunga not been asleep would have been a real chance.

Hanlan. 6. Tried hard
Ayunga. Tried hard, defended well from the front. He looked a bit lost in the last 20 mins.

Hare. I didn’t notice him. Couldn’t really see the point in bringing him on.
Daly. NOLE. I think he has potential but looked lost today.

Northants. 2. Worse than Swindon. If they stay up how bad must the sides be who get relegated.

Ref. 1. Awfull. He got the penalty right. BBC says there were 38 fouls today, 23 by us. Let’s call it one every four
minutes. That was way more than any other game in our
league today. How many of those were given by players throwing themselves to the floor? About 50% would be
my guess. We were just about as bad as they were. It’s like having a weak teacher at school, kids take advantage. I know the players shouldn’t do it, but when the ref is as bad as he was today I’m not sure how much to blame them. The two teams were bad enough but with a lousy ref on to it made for a totally sh1te game of football.

Simple fact is that but for that slip/error we’d have won the game reasonably comfortably and tonight we would have been applauding a gritty display where we outfought the opponents. So disappointing to lose vital points again by our own making.

Jaakkola 7 really had not much to do.

Upson 6 lovely shot apart, he gave ball away again that almost led to goal.

Westbrooke 8 some lovely touches can't work out why subbed? Another great assist!?

Hanlan 5 ran well but did he even get one shot away?
Ayunga 5 worked hard but not the answer to scoring goals what we need.

Daly 5 didn't make impact we needed.

Ref 3 bought all the play acting.
Northampton 4 poor team and we were dragged down to their level by mimicking play acting and drawing fouls. I lost count how many times a normal challenge resulted in their player rolling around as if their leg was amputated?! Breaking up play, checking runs in box, infringement upon infringement, stepping in front of the ball on free kicks, all the dark arts... awful to watch, frustrating...but we knew what we were in for and I'm disappointed we didn't create more chances to win. Another one mistake led to goal, but even if we do go down, we should end up above them. They're doomed as they're playing 4th division football already...
