I might be in a minority but I actually don’t think he’d be a bad signing at all at this level. Strong powerful centre forward who should be coming into his prime now and did pretty well in league 1 as well as getting game time in the Champ this season. I'm not sure... i mean he would give a slightly different dynamic as he is 6ft 3 but not the bagsman that we need that can turn 1 chance into a goal for example Cov: Attachment DeletedWalsall Attachment Deleted

His goal record in L1 is similar to Hanlan's!! There seems little point in signing another striker who we just hope can start scoring goals. Although why would a Coventry City player drop 2 divisions to join us anyway.

The only reason a player would drop two divisions is money.
Some strikers are hardly prolific until they land with the ideal club for them. For example, JCH was hardly free scoring until he ended up here. Then he starting to score loads of goals and his confidence became sky high. This season, in a much better team creating loads of chances, he's scoring at will. Next season he will be playing Championshio football regardless of whether Posh get promoted.

Agree with these comments from Clint Hill today.
“It’d be good to get two or three done just as the season finishes, not just for us as well, but to give the fans a little bit of belief as well,” he said.
“Two or three good signings early will give everyone a good reaction."

Stand by the fact we should have signed Fraser Hornby a couple of years back when available on loan. Spoke to Widdrington who said he didnt think he would sign for us. Hes at Reims now and played for Aberdeen last season. Hes related to Duncan Ferguson and plays like him just what we need. Careers stalled but would offer us something.
Funnilly enough ive only felt so strongly about 3 players to reccomend them to the club and one of the others was Connor McAleney. Wouldnt be suprised to see him here. Shocked by how his career went, its quite sad.

Glad joey s got his targets wonder whether Tommy is having any input, 2 separate sources told me joey has nothing to do with Tommy, and they do not communicate, wael is backing joey so only one winner here.
Glad joey has spoken to Cheltenham manager and Paul cook, hopefully getting a good idea what we need to be competitive and seems 2 or 3 might be sorted soon.
Sheehan from Newport would be decent if they dont go up.

Some options John Mahon (Sligo Rovers, transfer fee), Will Boyle (Cheltenham Town, free), Jamie Sterry (Hartlepool, free), Josh Sheehan (Newport County, free), Matty Lund (Rochdale, free), Dylan Bahamboula (Oldham Athletic, transfer fee), Danny Hylton (Luton, free), James Wilson (Salford, free), Layton Stewart (Liverpool, loan). Boyle seems an unrealistic suggestion, so I'd swap him for 6ft 5in Dan Happe at Leyton Orient. the72.co.uk/233544/sheffield-wednesday-in-the-running-to-sign-league-two-defender/

Look at the centre forward league two success stories this season
Doyle, Mullin, Vaughan, Henderson, McAleny. All experienced maybe even journeymen. Think back to Richard Walker scoring 25 goals in L2 for us.
Gary Madine fits that bill and is OOC at Blackpool.

Madine fits the physical approach that Barton seems tempted to go for next season but he didn't seem happy at Cardiff as too far from his home in the North East so gut instinct is that won't happen.

I think the Gas need to sign a few players in the closed season. Jaakola needs someone in front of him to protect him from injury The two central defenders need someone at their side to bring some strength and bite to defence. The two full backs need someone in the centre with height to bolster the defence at set pieces. Mid field needs someone behind them to play the ball out so that they can play it back or square. The wide players need the defence to support the midfield so they can distribute and circulate back to the keeper. The strikers need the wingers to play alongside them to increase numbers upfront and the opposition keeper to go awol to give them half a chance. Obviously the strikers should stay onside and stop falling over whenever in the opposition's half. I've heard a rumour the strikers will be taught in preseason training how to head the ball, and also the skill of holding the ball up when the ball is played towards them either to feet or chest. I heard the recent Harold Jarman podcast where he said the game has changed a bit from his playing day. Yep it certainly has, losing 27 games and conceding nearly double the number of goals than you scored in a season needs to be slightly improved next season. There is an old saying you get what you paid for. So gasheads get yer money out, start paying, and it will come good if we follow the above advice.UTG

My Torquay supporting mates have been praising the lad they signed on loan from Sunderland, Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka. Can play on the wing or striker. 6ft Swedish U21 International
