Joe Day is still probably a no from me but having watched the games last season, even jaakkola couldn't keep a clean sheet with that pile of sh1te that was defending in front of him.
Maybe with a more experienced back line and a league below he might be an okay second choice.

Joe Day is a classic example of a player wanting the bigger pay cheque at a bigger club even if it halts their development by sitting on the bench or in the reserves.
Personally after seeing him last season, I think we can do better.

Personally after seeing him last season, I think we can do better. That's a good observation - Went from a bright, young, sought after Keeper to 3rd choice at Cardiff and he has stagnated - even gone backwards. The bigger clubs don't give a sh**e - huge revolving door and damn the consequences. I do feel a bit sorry for him as he played behind a total shambles and he was caught out again and again .... that said he showed no command of his box, the twats in front of him and made a lot of individual errors. Balancing that a little he was brave when needed and made some good stops. When Anssi returned I didn't think he looked as good as he had done previously - again probably down to the Circus Clowns around him.

I reckon that Joey will already have his own keeper in mind if he is not happy with the loss of Annsi for Internationals. I believe JB should be looking for Annsi's full commitment after the Euros as he is no 3 there is really no chance that he will ever get first choice and therefore should consider retiring from International football and concentrate on his bread and butter. If he does not wish to do that then i think hhe should be made available for transfer and a new no 1 brought in.

Not bad money if you can make that.

Do professionals get paid for playing International games? I've no idea.

Do professionals get paid for playing International games? I've no idea. Yes they do, in England's case it is £2k/game. However this money has been paid directly into the footballers foundation charity for the last few years. Interestingly the women get the same fee and some of them also donate their match fees.

So £6k per player before we fly home?

Thanks gaswood.Thats nowhere near as bad as I thought.Jed looked so short in the Blackpool game but still feel he needs a whole season on loan. Some internet sources suggest Jed is 5ft 10in but perhaps it's old data and he has had a growth spurt. Still Dickie Sheppard was only 5-10 and he was pretty useful on crosses.

No player should ever be asked to give up on their country, it’s what people dream of, far to many pros have gave up on international football at a young age.

Somersetgas, He is not a young age though is he ? He is third choice and after the Euros surely Finland will be rebuilding and we need a keeper who is available every week and fit. With his injury record it would be a sensible move to concentrate on his bread and butter.

As for Rovers ,Anssi being away also should be seen as a positive . Raises the clubs profile , have any efforts been made to encourage fan interest to rovers in finland ? When away it presents the opportunity for the 2nd choice keeper to get game time. Which might attract a better candidate as they know opportunity will arise.

This is a difficult one.. Anssi Jaakola s very injury prone and getting on a bit, Jed Ward is in the shop window now after his England call up. What if both of them went before the season starts and we're left without a keeper? This is obviously the worst case scenario. With that in mind, I'd be inclined to give either Day or Bonham or both a one year deal. There are worse Keepers out there at this level.

Why would Bonham accept a one year deal here now in a lower division when he turned us down to sign for Gillingham previously and has now rejected a new contract there?
