Hull City ponder new bid for Brazilian Alefe Santos from Bristol Rovers By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: June 06, 2014 Hull City are considering making a second, improved offer for highly-rated Bristol Rovers winger Alefe Santos. City's first bid for the Brazil-born star was flatly rejected, with reports in the south-west indicating Rovers are desperate to keep hold of the 19-year-old, despite their relegation from the Football League last season Whilst they remain bullish that the home-grown youngster won't leave the Memorial Stadium on the cheap, City won't be held to ransom. The Tigers are keen to recruit Santos to add him to their under-21s development squad, but their valuation is some distance away from that of the Pirates. Santos, who moved to Southmead with his family at a young age, is out of contract, but because he is under 24 he will still command a fee. Rovers boss Darrell Clarke confirmed a bid had been received from a Premier League club, but refused to state which one or what player was involved. "We have turned a bid down from a Premier League club for one of our younger players and that is where we are at," Clarke said. "We won't become an easy target for clubs who think they can make silly bids and then expect to take our players away." Santos scored one goal in 27 appearances last season after graduating from the youth team. City have already moved to strengthen their development squad this year, with the signing of non-league hotshot Johan Ter Horst from Folkestone Invicta. While the opportunity to jump four divisions will be a tantalising option for Santos, the Pirates hold all the aces as they look to get the best deal possible for the youngster. If a fee cannot be agreed, a tribunal may be needed in order to push any move through. www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-ponder-new-bid-Brazilian-Alefe-Santos/story-21198778-detail/story.html

Bristol Rovers youngster Alefe Santos is closing in on a move to Hull City.
Sky Sports are reporting that Santos is set to agree terms on a move to become part of the Premier League side's Under 21 development set-up.
Rovers have already rejected one offer for the teenager and the transfer fee looks set to be decided via a tribunal after the two clubs have been unable to strike a deal.

Not too fussed by this tbh.
Personally wouldn't have been in my first XI this season.
Take the fee and get three wingers in who are ready for conference football.

Good move for him. Development is definitely what he needs. No doubt he could do a job for us this season but if he has the chance to learn in prem, fair play.

Never once showed me he was any good for us. Far too lightweight, embarrassing at times to watch him play. Good luck to him but no loss as far as I am concerned

Our player has been taken by Hull and he is too crap for us. Like Harrold who has gone up 2 divisions yet too crap for us. Our problems run deeper than I thought. We are a strange bunch. Meanwhile, we sign non league players and people get excited by it.
Current players move UP and are crap. New players come in from below and it's good? Strange.

Santos was great in the youth team but was a bit weak last year. Tom Lockyer was the only one who broke through, he was thrown out by Cardiff because he was too weak for U18s football. Alefe will toughen up, and when he does he will regain his confidence and be a very good player. We won't see it though, it's a shame

Sky Sports understands Celtic and Derby County are attempting to hijack Hull City’s swoop for Alefe Santos. The 19-year-old Bristol Rovers winger is very highly-rated, and Hull had looked to be closing on his signature. The Tigers have been chasing Santos for months, although they could not agree terms with Rovers and were happy to for the deal to go to a tribunal. With Santos able to sign for a club from Tuesday, Hull had seemed set to conclude a deal but a late move from Derby and Celtic has complicated matters. The Brazilian-born teenager now has options, with a decision set to be made in the coming days. A spokesman for his agents Full Contact, refused to confirm who Santos was in talks with, and told Sky Sports: “Alefe is considering his options, but we cannot confirm or deny which clubs he is talking to.” www.teamtalk.com/derby-county/9367293/-

Well done to the kid, great move and I hope he develops into a decent championship player.
Or are the scouts from Derby, Hull and Celtic all wrong and the know it all rovers fans on Facebook and various forums right that he is a lightweight inept crosser who can't beat his man?
I hate to moan but the one thing that annoys me most about lots of gasheads (and probably football fans in general to be fair) is the way we turn on young players if they don't immediately become world beaters. He clearly has potential and I can't blame him for opting for the better coaching and facilities (and money) at Derby.
