Massively important member of our 2007 promotion winning team.
Underrated and let go too soon as OP says.

For his size he scored some great headers, made great runs beyond the strikers too. Good luck Dis with your future career.

A ginger lady garden that was better than Hunt. There's a poem in there, somewhere.

Midfielder with pace. Surprisingly good in the air for a little guy. Main downside is got caught in possession, often remember the crowd shouting “man on!!” As someone came from behind him.
Great player for us and a great compliment to Campbell.
So sad he was on the other side at Wembley. Would have liked him to not have been on the losing team.

One of my all time favourite players. Enjoy your retirement Dis. Same here. Will never forget that goal against Lincoln at home in the play offs. And then of course, when he played for Grimsby and scored against Barnet. The atmosphere at the Mem that day was unreal

Craig has just announced his retirement from football a great servant for the gas released far to early Tbh at the time i agreed with the decision to move him on, same with Steve Elliott, we needed better if we were gonna go for top 6 (which They said was the aim that year) but they were replaced with much worse players who also lacked the passion for the club, it’s one of those for me where in hindsight I wish we’d have kept them rather than sign the likes of blizzard and tunniclife.. but the ideal thing would have been to have replace them with better players like they were meant to. Regardless they’re gas hero’s imo

He could jump higher than most no matter how tall they were lol his headed goal at home to Lincoln in the play off semi has to be the best example of that!

Regardless they’re gas hero’s imo Every football podcast I listen to ex-players agree that team spirit is as important as the quality of the players. It was a mistake to break up that team so quickly - that was evident at the time I thought, not just in hindsight. A mistake DC didn't make when we were promoted from the Conference.

I won’t argue with that one bit tbh, the loss of that passion Disley and Elliott brought to the team was glaringly obvious, they would have fought to the death in that relegation battle and that could maybe have been the difference that got us on the right side of the relegation line. I remember we got worse and worse every season during that league 1 stint and when we were finally relegated again it left me really convinced that the club couldn’t hack it at that level anymore. Thank god for Daryl lol

Thank god for Daryl lol Elliot and Disley? Two really good players. Both totally committed to the team. Elliot showed how a good centre back doesn't have to be super quick to be effective. Ehmer please take note. As for Disley we let him go way too early. It's easy to get misty eyed when reflecting on those two players compared to the dross we've got now.

Can’t find a clip of it. If you have one much appreciated skip to 1:13 to see Disley leap like a salmon! Alternatively watch from the beginning to enjoy what was a sensational final flurry from the Gas that season 🙂
