I upped my budget in the end and got myself an Audi A1. Still a small car. Had it for 2/3 days now and the first day was a horror, over think everything. Getting better though. Any one know any good areas to drive round at night? At the moment I’ve just been driving from my house to imperial park and back a couple of times. I did go to Asda Bedminster earlier but not sure I could do it in the day when it’s busy just yet lol. As for motorways, I’ve got to go see some friends soon and will need to conquer them eventually. I’m not a road person, no one in my family has ever drove lol. If I went out one on at night where should I go, fairly close but far enough away to get me a bit of a experience? Might be worth paying for a Motorway lesson - should probably be compulsory anyway tbh. |

If you're near Bedminster, why not take a trip out to Bristol Airport? There's a few roundabouts, a few slow speed areas, few high speed areas, traffic lights, some fully lit roads, some not so much, it's a bit of everything. |

Might be worth paying for a Motorway lesson - should probably be compulsory anyway tbh. Doing PassPlus will lower your insurance as well, good shout eric. I did it when I passed and it really helped when I first went on a motorway. If you're near bedminster mariobalotelli, it's probably worth driving to Bath at night via Brislington. You'll get the experience of driving out of the city, enough traffic to be aware but no overwhelmed, speed cameras, dual carriage ways and just generally a bit of everything for a 30 min drive each way. |

All of a sudden your dealing with traffic at 70MPH +, Having to overtake HGV Lorries, and judge how fast a vehicle is approaching from behind as to whether it's safe to pull out or not. On top of that your thinking and breaking distances are vastly increased. At 70 MPH your overall stopping distance is something like 96 metres or 315 feet! |

My other bugbear is their inability to use indicators properly, changing lanes with no notice or not cancelling indicators once they've moved. Any advice francegas Whenever we go back to the UK we take the Calais to Rouen...Rouen to Chartres and then pick up the motorway south to Clermont Ferrand. You do realise traditionally the first full weekend in August is one of the busiest when Paris shuts and they all head south for their holiday. Got caught out once when the house was a holiday home and it took us 5 hours to get past Paris at 3 in the morning! So I would reccomend avoid Paris at all costs. Sunday is always the best day in the week to drive on French motorways because HGV lorries are banned unless they are transporting perishable goods. When we went to the Med a couple of weeks ago we picked up the motorway at Issoire and drove to Sete some 300km and passed "3" Lorries. Safe travels Yatton have a good holiday. |
