Brilliant! That’s one of the two relegation spots taken then.

That's a clever move by the owner leaking that rumour, as whoever you now appoint will be a relief to the supporters! if I was a swondon fan I would prefer liquidation rather then having him anywhere near the club I agree. This man is the reason we are back in L2. There are alot of things to take the water out of being a Swindon fan but I don't wish BG on anyone. With the mess they are in off the pitch, and on it this is a move that imho could send them out of the football league. Our worst manager ever! How he is even thought of being given another management job is madness!

I know I’m totally going against the grain here but I believe BG could be a success somewhere and in the right environment. He’ll be a pretty cheap option, expectations are low and he can coach. He will have learned a lot from his time here and if he gets a good start he might get a bit of momentum.
Of course I could be totally wrong and he’ll drag them down to the conference……

He must have been absolutely fantastic at the job interview to land a managerial job so soon after his debacle at Rovers.

I have no animosity towards the guy, he's only human like us and plenty of managers fail at one club and do well at another. I wish him no ill will and provided it's not at our expense, won't worry if he does well at Swindon.

If he gets it then perhaps he will take Ayunga, Harries and a few more?

I do believe if Garner is given the time to build a squad and philosophy his way, he will do well.
The results under him during the Covid season weren't the best and he relied heavily on JCH, but towards the end (in particular the Sunderland game) we did see what Looked like a change in fortune with the players at our disposal finally getting use to his possession based approach.
Then the pandemic happened, meaning any chance of momentum was squashed. However shortly after, the structural change in Ownership took place in the summer and the entire approach and resources at his disposal was now all down to him, including signings which we all thought on paper were quality for league 1 i.e ehmer, westbrooke, Nicholson etc.
Whilst results were far from impressive to begin with, our new squad Did start to find its feet a bit, with wins away at Lincoln and Shrewsbury. Plus our PPG was still enough to stay in league 1. The problem we have, is that I do believe we got a little too big for our boots and thought we should be doing a lot better than that was happening, but this new approach and philosophy was always going to need time to be implemented. But in the end the board made that decision after fleetwood that evolution wasn’t good enough and wanted a revolution on the pitch. Now it’s just my opinion, but I honestly do believe had we stuck with Garner and his approach with the players in time gradually adapting to it, we’d still be in League 1 and a much more stable team than we are today.
If Swindon give Garner the time and patience to implement his stamp on things, I do believe he’ll do well.

I wouldn't say it's solely down to him, we had time to sort ourselves out but didn't take it. I doubt he set out to lose on purpose and get us relegated. He tried but failed, we now have to rebuild and move onwards and upwards.

To back the guy you need to make endless amounts of excuses. Fact is we were crap for the vast majority of his time and his recruitment left us in the lurch, topped off by Tisdales lackadaisical winter recruitment. The majority of his signings are being bombed out by JB, and that’s no coincidence. Amazed some are still saying they’re a good bunch.
I expect he’ll now go on an illustrious career, get Swindon promoted and become a legend there and make me look like a tit.
Whatever though he has been by far the worst Rovers manager in my lifetime.

Amazing that we are laughing at Swindon and Garner when we have a manager in JB who has so far achieved NOTHING for us. JB had time to steer us clear of relegation and failed. BG was beginning to get the team playing football and was sacked when we were not in the relegation zone. Personally, I think BG can do well at Swindon and I wish him well. I also hope that JB can do well for us, but his start last season was very unimpressive - let's hope he finds his form this coming season and gets us back up at the first attempt- anything else will be failure.

I'm shocked he's being given another opportunity, especially at a football league club. It should make our next encounter with Swindon extra spicy, especially after what Barton said about him ("negligent", "should be struck off", etc)

Garners win ratio was 20.6%, Tisdales 26.3%...
Bartons 16.7%
