As for the future, I would like to see us raise money for tickets for low income families to maybe get some tickets in a ballot style system so they can attend a game in these particularly tough times. We could maybe ask the club to put aside in advance some tickets for say a dozen games and draw the lucky winners.
The football club is now well financed by our superb owner and maybe we should turn our attention to Gasheads and their families who may be struggling.
Just a thought, keep the comments coming and UTG!

Just a thought, keep the comments coming and UTG! How do you determine low income? A joint income of 60k+ sounds a lot but with maintenance to an ex, step kids and financially dependant older relatives, take home is very low. It could cause a lot of arguments on here, plus you have the 30 year olds claiming kids tickets for matches, so who is to say that everyone who claims to be low income will be honest. Very difficult to police. Plus if/when Waels leaves, I don't see his kids having much interest. The club will be in a terrible position then. Remember financially this season will be one of the clubs worst ever ( when fans can attend). It is not sustainable and we are wholly relient on one man. God bless him, but he can't keep throwing £2-3 million to cover losses each season. Let's not kid ourselves a new contract for Evans, plus 7-8 new signings to ensure we are better than Fleetwood, Morecombe, Shrews and Cheltenham to make sure we stay up will not be cheap. Maybe keeping a nest egg for Sharescheme 2 when it is needed maybe a better idea.

I like the idea of doing something which happens now - not years down the line, whether that is by shirt sponsorship for the lesser known players, or helping out fans who aren't able to attend a game.

How about the monies going to help the families of kids like Oscar attend a game, or maybe someone like the young man who worked at Southmead hospital and was severely beaten in a racist attack on his way from work a few years ago? Would make a statement that the Gas are against racism.

Gonna let the euphoria die down from our incredible promotion push a little (if it ever does!) and put this to the vote on here soon to gauge opinion. Tilly has kindly recommended someone who works with a charity who helps such families who may be able to help us make sure any tickets, merchandise etc go to worthy people. 👍🏼

I think it’s a great idea but it would be nigh on impossible to make it work with everyone happy

I won’t know as much as others on here but FWIW: You don’t want to make any scheme too bureaucratic but neither do you want the money being questioned as to where it goes which would compromise what it's meant to do. Having a known and trusted individual, perhaps using the knowledge of the Community Trust, who would know where the need exists would be the way to go to identify those who would benefit from receiving tickets to attend. They would know where and those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to go. Keep up the good work Jon and others.👍 UTG!

Try to have your say on this everyone, it’s your club/fundraiser so please feel free to make suggestions.
So, from my side - I’d like to see money raised going towards tickets for people struggling etc.
It’s also been far too long since we sponsored a match mainly due to Covid, I’d like us to sponsor a night game early next season (maybe one of the smaller cup games) and it would be my suggestion to sponsor it in memory of Greg’s Gas.
Let’s see how many thoughts we get over the next two weeks and we will put it to the vote after. UTG!

You have to be very careful as people are very quick to judge, without knowing the facts.

Bumping this (cos I've just read it ) but I agree totally with a Gregs Gas Memorial Match, sponsored by the FFS, early season. I live many miles from Bristol now, and don't get to many games, but would bust a gut to get to that one. Let's have the vote Jon. UTGGMM.

Yeah, I'm up for this idea and think it would energize a few that may have gone off boil.

Have lived outside Bristol now for 7years so getting to games ain't easy with no car and very small income. However I concur with 79, the forum need to sponsor one' maybe two games per season. Hoping to get myself back on my feet properly in the next month or three and would like to rejoin this group as I did so during its first two years with John the Stripe and others
