giles, Read my post. I did not say he started the game I said he started with a customary error giving the ball away at the star5t of the second half. It is not negative obsession-it is fact that he has been awful and given loads of goals away. We can hope that he can improve this season. What is your fixation on slating our young local players every week? Were you let go by the academy or something?

He is caught out of position and gives the ball away too much. That is not to say he won't make it as a professional footballer -- But I don't think he is ready yet.

LJG. I dont think they had Acadamies in my time. I do wish we could produce some youngsters that were good enough. I thought in his first season that Kilgour could be that player but I have a feeling that Tony Craig covered up his weaknesses and last season I honestly thought he was dreadful. As for Houle I think he could make it but am not convinced he is ready at this time to play regularly. I am not convinced that acadamies are the way forward for clubs in our position. They cost a lot of money to set up and IMO football is only set up for the Premier League and if we do get any decent youngsters they will be prised away from us for next to nothing before they even make the squad. It seems to me that our current crop of youngsters might be better than the last and could well overtake the Hargreaves,Liddle and Tomlinsons but even then with the way we have signed players I cannot really see them getting in our squad.

Clarke, Lockyear and Lines have all been subject to your obsessive negativity towards them when they were here. You have some weird bias against home grown local players and you're unable to view them objectively.

Coutts confirmed as captain, interesting he thinks he has a team of real grown ups and leaders. Certainly feels that way vs last season

Ah so you're irrationally negative about players that come through the academy because you don't want us having one. I've always wondered so I'm glad that's been answered.

JerryTheBerry, Youve taken my words completely wrong.LJG that is unfair to name those three players as over periods IO have praised those players when they have produced. Chris Lines was a fine player but I think it is fair to say that his performances were declining during his latter time with us. Lockyer was a fine player and never let us down and his number of appearances at such a young age are testament to that. My one criticism of him were his distribution. Ollie Clarke you possibly have a fair point that he was not my favourite player and IMO he was only worth having in the team when he scored goals- far too many needless fouls and bookings for me and IMO did not have the ability to dominate a game of football by wanting the ball. Kilgour I have never been convinced by his ability and feel he is very over rated and has far too many costly mistakes in him. Can he improve? Of course he can and I hope this time has come but I am not convinced. For me it is years since we have had a glut of quality youngsters and this is shown by the n8umber of new players we have had to bring in. We will not see many young players in the squad this season IMO. I would love to be positive about the youngsters.

Pitman, Hanlan and Collins all ruled out so It will be Saunders up top that's for sure

Maybe Anderson (is he fit?) instead of Walker

Surely we will be playing Anderson he is the only one left with any goals in him. This is a massive blow at the start of the season.

Imagine Joey Barton will have strong words for whoever has been responsible for this pretty awful preseason!

I reckon he will stick to his guns and go for 3-4-3 Anssi Kilgour - Hughes - Anderton Hoole - Grant - Coutts - Clarke Thomas - Saunders - Anderson
If he decides to put Anderson at wing back instead of Hoole then I think either Walker, Jones or Spence will start in the front 3 instead.
