Is it time that the club should challenge EFL with always having an away game first? Seems to me that our chances of getting a winning start to a season is always diminished. No other club in the EFL has this restriction, and hinders Rovers getting a good start.

Maybe, but I’m not sure we’d have much of a case. I mean most years (although not this) there’s usually a logical reason why we play away first that they’ll just point to, the balloon fiesta.
It’s annoying as a fan to put it mildly, but do we really get much of a sporting disadvantage considering everyone plays 23 home games and 23 away games over the course of a long season? It’s not like playing away results in an automatic loss either.

What I could not understand about last season was we played Sunderland away on the opening day and went to Blackpool on the last day anyone explain how that happened

I would much rather we finished the season at home.
Over the course of a season it does not make a difference.

Said this previously. Not our fault there's a balloon fiesta on every year. Yet we get affected by it. Make the sh** play midweek or something.

Yes. Puts you on the back foot straight away.a home game you like to think you can win and starts the ball rolling

We should challenge the balloon festival organisers to move the date, seeing as Marvin is apparently a Gashead perhaps he could have a word?

I wasn’t bothered but today’s result made me think. Next week we are at home and need to win. Not desperately but for morale and momentum. If we lose we could lose fans, be bottom of the league. I get it’s early days but it does matter. Mansfield go to next week’s game knowing they have 3 points and are up and running. I’m not saying we’d have won at home but I do think we always start with the more difficult option. And that does increase the pressure next week which brings its own complications. It would be nice to get a fair crack of the whip at these things - we can’t start at home every year but alternate years would be nice

Doesn't really matter which order we play those two games in does it. Lets not make sh1tty excuses, having our first game of the season away from the home isn't the reason we keep getting relegated is it.

I’m just putting the idea out that being at home makes a difference. If, and it’s just if, we had been at home today we might have won. Then next week’s away game would have been that bit easier. I’m not claiming it would be earth shattering but being at home usually helps and that gives us a confident start rather than having to pick ourselves up from a defeat.

Over the season we play every other team in the league home and away. The order in which we play our first couple of games makes so little difference. If anything, the fact that our last game of the season is at home could be more important than the first being away.
