Belshaw 7.5 very decent. Competent. Almost breath of fresh air.
Baldwin 7 steady.
Hughes 7.5 like it.
Anderton 7.5 like it like that.
Rodman 7 nice start from rodders.
Grant 6 quietest of mid.
Finley 7.5 could possibly be heartbeat of team.
Anderson 8 excellent cross for goal and effort.
Thomas 7 decent movement but takes too long to steady himself to shoot.
Collins 7.5 great running.
Saunders 8 m o m excellent goal and engine, just never gave up.
Subs: Nicholson 6 not up to much.
Pitman 6 hardly got a chance.
Harries 6.5 shored up defence.
Ref 3 some bizarre decisions.
Oldham 4 a bottom half team on this showing, we made their defence look a basket case first half. The best team won, but they def had their chances!(?)

Belshaw 7.5 a good debut, calm,experienced, handled the ball well. Baldwin 7 apart from the one trademark error a good strong game. Hughes 8 Dominant ,loud no nonsense game. Anderton 7.5 him and Hughes are forming a good partnership. Rodman 7 added balance and calmness, Grant 7 worked hard always looking to receive the ball. Finley 9 M.o.M Wow! when was the last time we had such a livewire in midfield, he covered every inch of the pitch,understandably tired later on but probably still not totally match fit. Anderson 8.5 created the goal and worked tirelessly throughout, Thomas 7 the injury slowed him down , better things to come. Collins 8.5 linked up well with the willing Saunders with his intelligent running the goals will come but his job on the pitch is much more than goals. Saunders 8 scored the goal,well deserved, him and Collins are exciting prospects. Subs: Nicholson 6.5 he's a fair way off full fitness. Pitman 6 I dont see him as more than a final 15 minute player, but handy for a late goal or two. Harries.6 not on long but shored up the left side late on Ref 4 dire, as was the line on the east side. Oldham 5 run ragged in the first half and we should have put them out of their misery by half time, a typical Keith Curle side. |

Belshaw 6.5 - not a lot to do but looked very assured. Much more so than Jak has been. Should keep his place.
Baldwin 6.5 - looks better than Kilgour or Taylor. Hate to say it as I am a big fan but with the number of reserve centre backs (Taylor, Harries, Martinez plus Grant who can play there) perhaps it is time to sell Alfie to free up a squad place.
Hughes 6.5 - generally solid. Less wayward passes than ususal
Anderton 6.5 - less negative than in the earlier matches
Rodman 7 - makes a real difference. Can beat a man and cross.
Grant 7 - covered a lot of ground. Still careless with the ball at times
Finley 8 - taking account of his lack of match fitness this was amazing. Lots of energy plus good skill and awareness.
Anderson 7.5 - love the guy. Lots of effort and makes things happen as well
Thomas 6 - some good moments but not yet fulfilling his potential
Collins 7 - good performance and makes us a threat in the final third. If he can score regularly than he will be some player.
Saunders 6.5 - good effort. Unlucky to be booked.
Subs: Nicholson 5.5 - getting back to fitness. Glimpses of what is to come
Pitman 4 - looked slow and unfit. Needs to be carefully managed back to full fitness.
Harries 5.5 - steady

Belshaw 7 - solid game, kicking wasnt up to standard though.
Baldwin 7 - solid game
Hughes 7 - solid game
Anderton 7 - solid game
Rodman 7.5 - great to see him back, looked lively all night and will be a great asset this season.
Grant 6 - tried hard, still not convinced hes a natural CM and will soon be on the bench once players return from injury
Finley 8 - Bossed the midfield
Anderson 7.5 - Ran his socks off all night. the thought of him and Nicholson on either flank driving at the opposition is mouth watering.
Thomas 6 - tired hard, caused them all sorts of problems. Should of scored! need to stop sulking too
Collins 8 - Another bit of real talent in our squad. Oldham couldnt handle his runs down the line and behind the defence. unluckyt not to score
Saunders 7.5 - took his goal well and worked hard.
Subs: Nicholson 5 - cant wait to see him back to full fitness, few decent runs when he come on and was causing all sorts of problems. wasnt on the pitch long enough to effect the game
Pitman 5 - needs fitness, wasnt on the pitch long enough to effect the game.
Harries 5 - few nervy moments when Oldham attacked down the wing but it was handled well enough. Last season horrors made me nervous i think!
Ref 1 - With out a doubt the worst ref we've had.
Oldham 4 - 1st half I dont think I can remember a team being as poor as them.

Belshaw 7 Calm, assured without being massively troubled
Baldwin 5 Caught out a couple of times
Hughes 6 Solid
Anderton 5.5
Rodman 7.5 Used the space afforded to him by Oldham well
Grant 6.5 Combative
Finley 8 Terrific all-round performance. Tackling, passing, workrate
Anderson 7 Good link-up play and was targeted by Oldham. Finishing let him down a couple of times
Thomas 6 Not in the game too much, but supported the attacks
Collins 6.5 Good running in behind and never stopped working for the team
Saunders 6.5 Similar to Collins
Subs: Nicholson 6 A calm presence who allowed us to see the game out
Pitman 3 Clearly unfit, could hardly jump
Harries 6 An assured cameo
Ref 1 So so poor
Oldham 4 Defensively fragile in the first half. Better in the second and had chances to nick it
