How about a manager swap with Nigel Clough? Got to be on dodgy ground at a hire em and fire em club like Mansfield.

Only Wael Al-Qadi could pass up this Flynn opportunity. Beggars belief how he is still reportedly backing Barton. If it was another club it would be funny. Absolute laughing stock. You mean the "vote of confidence" that was given. That usually means the board are already looking at replacements at most clubs. A vote of confidence is usually the board taking the initiative and voting, not the manager offering to quit!

Flynn for sure would be the most sensible option but you have to look at long term for this which means we would have to be prepared to accept a bottom half of the table position this season and at least two more seasons with a settled squad, with the aim being progress. Even if we are unable to make a push for promotion for another few years. That's if he would actually want to come to us anyway which I am not so sure!

Sol Campbell and Micheal Flynn are the 2 obvious names.
Personally I would go for Campbell who would bring in some defensive organisation.

We've overlooked Flynn 4 times already with the club in a much better position than we are now.
He'd be absolutely nuts to take the job now.

I do not have a clue as to who should replace JB, and the thing that worries me most is that the problem will not go away regardless of who takes over, there is a deep rooted problem at this club that I fear may never be cured. And I’ve been suffering this affliction since my first game at Eastville in 1966. The best part of this club is the fans, the rest of it is a circus of errors and blunders, even Brookman made the same observation yesterday post match, stating there is a problem behind the scenes, but what - who knows, and soon people might be asking, who cares - and that is the most scariest thought of all. We the fans deserve so much more and yet we are continually suffering unlike any other fan in the country.

Where was it when PT1 was getting us promoted? Where was it during the rise of DC? Where was it during GC's tenure? Isn't it just a myth we fall back on whenever things aren't going well?

Cant see JB going anywhere any time soon. Wael seems as though he has to much invested in him, and JB has changed so much there and has almost engrained himself into the job that if we get rid of him we get rid of half the backroom staff. Sad to say I think he's here for a while yet. Wael has created a monster

Should be moving heaven and earth to get Flynn right now. Free agent. Knows the league. Barton won't keep us up based on his PPG.

We seem to constantly criticise the manager for their failure to get results, which is in part fair.
However, until we call solve the perennial problem of signing a forward who can score goals, nobody is going to pull a rabbit out of a hat and solve the problem in my opinion.
I personally think the team we had last season wasn't that bad, and the one assembled this season isn't either, but unless you have an outlet up front, no manager is going to succeed.
I'm afraid I don't know why successive managers have failed to sign a quality forward, but that's the only real failing, and why nobody is ever going to turn things around until we do.

You can hardly go back that far, although didn't Southampton say Lambert was unfit when they were also a L1 side, then years later Peterborough suggested the same when they signed JCH, also when we were both L1 sides? As I said on the other thread if players are content to turn up for training chewing tobacco what else are they content to do? Didn't DC suggest we were decades behind other L1 clubs, do we just now sweep that comment under the carpet as GC had one freak season based on JCH's goals/Craig's organisation ability and a top goalie in Jaakola?

And of course he's just going to walk away from his present job and the owners will let him.
