In this jam-packed episode Max is joined by Mets and Neno to discuss the big question on everyone's mind: Barton in or Barton out? A defeat on the road before a 3-1 loss at home to Leyton Orient has the Rovers manager teetering on the brink following his summer overhaul, with Rovers down in 22nd place in League Two. Mets talks about the bad form of Mark Hughes and Nick Anderton, whilst Neno praises Saunders as Rovers best attacking outlet - Max can't get his head around this season's tactics or game-plan. The boys also talk about club president Wael Al-Qadi and the general direction of the football club, poor attendances, and general apathy before looking ahead to the Walsall game. listen.gascastpodcast.co.uk/276671/9237286-barton-in-or-out

Well that was uplifting!! On the positive side, it now less than two months before Barton gets sacked without a payoff.

I enjoyed the first 10 minutes and agreed with it all, but couldn't listen to anymore because none of us fans can put it right, the whole football day out experience is glum.

Worrying if we have to wait until JB court appearance before removing him, with many team players not playing for the manager we could be close to being dead and buried by then hoping for a miracle. A new manager now to install confidence and belief in the team and we could be mid table within a few games. We have a decent squad just need the right manager.

What's with all this decent squad? The players have hardly indicated that they will be any good! There won't be many decent players wanting to play for this club. If this is people's idea of "decent" players, God help us!! A bunch of dinosaurs, crocs and players who could'nt care less.

Unless his case is delayed again which happens with frightening regularity at the moment. Ah FFS you can just see that happening Which is why the club has to take responsibility for keeping or firing him, not rely on the courts to make the decision for them

Good listen lads....
It's fair to say it was a terrible appointment, and what's going on was so predictable from the start....
Now Wael has got himself stuck between a rock and a hard place....

Absolutely 100% concur with Neno. I'm completely apathetic at the moment, it's partly due to the results, but mainly due to the shambolic leadership of the club. The abandonment of the philosophy from last year accurately symbolises the lack of vision and the fact that the board have no idea what they're doing. To have finally introduced a coherent philosophy, only to abandon it when it doesn't go to plan in the first year, shows a lack of conviction and frankly a lack of business sense.
So depressing, as the above simply means that it doesn't matter whether JB gets sacked soon or not. The board won't know how to make the situation better regardless.
I would dearly love for the club to turn it around and prove me wrong, but all the evidence points to a continued decline.

It is now clear that DC and GC carried this club and when they left and the board were left to make decisions, they were clueless and the cracks started to open up. Barton needs to go now before things get any worse, I would give the job to Chris Hargreaves on a caretaker basis he knows the club, many of the players and the lower leagues, surely can't do any worse than the previous three.

Barton needs to go now before things get any worse, I would give the job to Chris Hargreaves on a caretaker basis he knows the club, many of the players and the lower leagues, surely can't do any work see than the previous three. We should have gone for stability in a mid-season appointment after GC left in the first place. We were 4th in the league. I said at the time that I favoured an internal appointment to keep some form of stability, but they decided to inexplicably transform the system and methodology that took us to a strong position in the first place. That I can forgive, because everyone makes mistakes and BG was a decent appointment on paper, but would have been much better with a summer arrival to implement his new philosophy. They then panicked and once they sacked BG, they stated publicly that they wanted to appoint managers to fit their club philosophy, yet they went ahead and failed spectacularly to do that. Tisdale and Barton both had different footballing philosophies from BG and the squad that was recruited. They literally could not have done a worse job at executing their philosophy if they tried. The incoherent thinking and flip flopping beggars belief.

Wael employed Barton with the potential of an unacceptable risk attached, that being his first impending trial. Hiring Managers is a risky business without the prospect of voluntary additional risk and many pointed that out at the time on this forum. What I found strange from our 3 podcast amigos was that they agreed that Barton was utterly useless but two of them wanted to persist with him (better the devil you know). It is imperative that to preserve our league status Barton should be sacked preferably before the Sun next rises.
