Ah! bless you, so kind, but i think I've got the hang of it now, apparently on the ticket there is usually something like instructions as to which entry turnstile to use, a block number(that's the section of the stand you have been allocated, a row number( usually a letter, the front row being A, second row B and so on, and a seat number( that's how far along the row you are) So as an example, Block A row A seat 1 , you would be in the front row in the first seat in block A, quite simple really , hope this helps those ( like you?) who find it difficult to locate the correct seat good luck in finding any seats with a number on it.as others said it's just a glorified terrace. When you buy a ticket for the blackthorn each ticket is numbered but we dont stand on that one spot. Agreed , not quite so straight forward in this case.

Why bother to look at the seat number. From past experience at away games, fans who are supposed to be sitting remain standing to the detriment of kids and older age groups who are unable to stand for 90 minutes. And what do stewards or police do, nothing.

You’re allocated a seat. Sit in it. It’s alright for the grown lads to stand wherever, but there are kids with their parent(s) who want to be able to sit together.

Seating at the ground aside, I presume people like me on the train will be given no choice of where to drink/eat before getting to the ground? I remember my last couple of visits we were frogmarched from outside the station to a wetherspoons which is rammed and not much chance of getting food in time or a seat/table before we are marched off again to the ground. Anyone know on what grounds the police can do this?

My mate’s going in the Town End, fairly confident he’ll blend in with the locals. <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> I only recently discovered that the actor who plays this alien in Men in Black is Vincent D'Onofrio (who played Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket). As for the seat argument.. at away days I normally turn up late and drunk.. I will sit where there is a space and be grateful!! I have tried sitting in my allocated seat on occasion, but it is always taken - so I just find a free one. Things might be a bit better since now people can purchase tickets seated together (using the member network on eTickets), so perhaps groups arriving early will be more inclined to sit in their allocated seats than they would historically (ie. when the members in the group would have been split up if they sit where they are allocated, so they just sit where they want together)? I am in the covered section at Swindon and I would expect the allocated seat number to be more likely to be honoured in that section - but we shall see!

Anyone else getting the train from Parkway to Temple Meads? It’s going to be a tough turnaround time to make the 8:13!

You’re allocated a seat. Sit in it. It’s alright for the grown lads to stand wherever, but there are kids with their parent(s) who want to be able to sit together. But they won’t be able to do that if their tickets aren’t together. And that’s when the whole sit where your allocated situation falls completely apart at the seams. You can’t pick your seat number. You can’t guarantee your party is sat next to one another. Some people get sh** seats and don’t want to sit there. And some find someone else sat in their seat anyway. All because of the above. Simple. Away ticketing is miles behind home ticketing.

It should arrive at 07:54 and give me just enough time to change platforms to get the 08:13am train to Swindon. What could possibly go wrong?
