www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-60690362It took long enough but the Russian owned Chelsea football club are facing the reality of foreign ownership finally. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I also doubt we’ll hear too much from from the despicable woman Amanda Staveley at Newcastle. She’s been very quiet since her initial supportive interviews on “That Russian”

Chelsea FC has been seized from Mr Abramovich as part of the freeze on his assets and the sale of the club is now on hold. The government says it will issue a special licence that will allow fixtures to be fulfilled, staff to be paid and existing ticket holders to attend matches. Season ticket holders can still attend games they have tickets for but the club can not now sell any more tickets for games. The club's merchandise shop will be closed.

Presumably all their players are now effectively worthless as an asset to the club and can't be sold.

This could go on a while and there will be a lot more questions to answer. If everything is pretty much frozen where do the wages come from for all staff? Are TV rights paid up front or can TV companies just RIP up contracts and walk away? Are players contracts null and void? I have no more info on Abramovich than that which is in the public domain. With the recent purchase of Newcastle being questioned for different reasons I feel that the F.A. needs to look at its due diligence procedures going forward.

About time, rather than making your average Russian suffer, make those whose allegiance to Putin pay. I am obviously opposed to this atrocious war but it could be the start of a clean up of laundered money by thousands of wealthy Russians, who benefitted by being close to that despot and cosying up to him. I have said, for ages, that football needs to clean itself up and this should be the start of a domino effect, if only the authorities have the balls to back it up

Oh no this is Britain … too many vested interests About time people woke up to where their money drains out of this country to Chelsea were £1.5 billion in debt to their owner, like Rovers but on a much larger scale, they were surely draining Abramovich rather than the other way around? As far as shutting Chelsea down would you be saying the same if Wael was a Russian? Good luck to whoever has been tasked with sorting out this mess at the Premiership/FA!
