I know he is only on loan but how good is it to see our name in an international squad:
Scotland U21 squad
Elliot Anderson (Bristol Rovers); Harrison Ashby (West Ham Utd); Scott Banks (Crystal Palace); Connor Barron (Aberdeen); Jack Burroughs (Ross County); Josh Campbell (Hibernian); Tom Clayton (Liverpool); Josh Doig (Hibernian); Lewis Fiorini (Lincoln City); Ross Graham (Dundee Utd); Jay Henderson (St Mirren); Scott High (Huddersfield Town); Nicky Hogarth (Nottingham Forest); Marc Leonard (Brighton); Lewis Mayo (Partick Thistle); Glenn Middleton (St Johnstone); Calvin Ramsey (Aberdeen); Zak Rudden (Dundee); Cieran Slicker (Manchester City); Connor Smith (Queen's Park); Stephen Welsh (Celtic); Ben Williamson (Raith Rovers)

Double edged sword this one.. Really pleased for the lad of course, but we'll certainly miss his flair in the matchday squad while he's on international duty..

I wish people would stop calling him Billy, it really confuses me for a bit! Ha! It confused me too when I was comparing his goal to Billy Bodin and for a moment I thought, wait, they're both called Billy.... oh no.

ARTICLE FROM THE ATHLETIC ON JAN 12TH 2022
Newcastle United's promising teenager Elliot Anderson is close to joining Luton Town on loan.
Chris Wood's imminent arrival from Burnley is set to bolster Newcastle's attacking resources, freeing up Anderson to finally depart on a loan which has been more than a year in the making.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder is viewed as Newcastle's most promising youngster and made his debut against Arsenal in the FA Cup in January 2021.
Despite interest from Luton and a host of other EFL clubs, Steve Bruce, the former head coach, convinced Anderson to stay on Tyneside last January, rather than head out on loan, though Anderson made just one further first-team appearance, a three-minute cameo against Arsenal in the Premier League.
But, after injury scuppered Anderson's hopes of moving on loan last summer, the indication is that he will be allowed to go on loan soon. A deal is understood to be in place with Luton, of the Championship, though other EFL clubs have also registered an interest.

This kid could well go on to play at the very highest level. He’s as good as anything I’ve seen at his age at Rovers.

Am I the only one thinks at times tonight he was too selfish? I guess that will come with age but a very exciting display.

He tried to make space for himself on the edge of the box to shoot a few times? On a night like tonight with Colchester having men in the box I've no issue as there isn't really a better option most of the time.

I guess that will come with age but a very exciting display. i think that many of the other players look for him because of his ability to do something special and i believe that Anthony Evans performances have been affected as he is not seeing so much of the ball . Having said that Anthony Evans did some great defensive tackling this evening . j

His performance alone last night was worth the entrance fee. Not seen anything like it in a Rovers shirt since another Billy.
