Be on iFollow won’t they? yep, think so. But without wanting to start the whole debate again, I won’t be watching on principle. I think I will fall in the middle, I may watch the Swindon game but I won’t pay money to watch us play a premier league teams kids

But I suspect iFollow purchases are still used to count towards the popularity of the trophy in its current format therefore I steer clear of that too. You just know that the EFL will spin it whichever way they can to try to suggest that their tweakings have been accepted/embraced by fans. Then you know what comes next..... (B Teams in the pyramid)

(B Teams in the pyramid) B teams are already in the pyramid I think! I understand Sheff Weds has this season signed 7 loanees presumably all Champ/Prem youngsters. The Gas are known to do it as well!!!! Who were the outstanding BRFC players last season?

Agree to some extent and, yes, the pyramid seems increasingly flooded with prem youngsters, but I still think there’s a big difference between us playing, say, a Wimbledon team with 5 Chelsea players on loan and us playing Chelsea B. On a slight tangent, I hadn’t realised B teams are already in the Scottish pyramid until last season when I happened to notice some of the lower league fixtures!

Chelsea had 38 players out on loan a few year ago. 2 of them at BRFC www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/01/chelsea-38-players-loan-who-whereDuring the 21/22 season at the start Man City led the way with 28 Watford 17 Chelsea15 Wolves 15. In total the Prem clubs had 183 players out on loan at the start of the season. I haven't researched how many BRFC had out on loan to redress the balance though

There is a huge difference between lower league sides relying heavily on young loan players from Premier/Championship sides and Premier/Championship sides being able to introduce their U23 sides into the Football League. But if you that's what you need to do to justify attending the Papa John's Trophy then go right ahead

Probably a question for Mike Jay but how many full internationals have played in this competition at the Mem?
Not including Lambert, Jakkola, Bodin, Lockyer, Hayles, Roberts etc for Rovers, how many for the u-21 teams - Rice, Gilmour, the Chelsea kid who played for Southampton on loan last season Bora? or similar, etc
I would guess it is over 20 in total.
