Looking forward to this, we’ve got to be one of if not the favourites. Great chance to lift some silverware for the Lionesses. We’re a different beast these days under Weigman.

Some performance after a below par opener at OT against the Austrians.
If the Germans & French made people sit up and notice by bagging 4 and 5 goals respectively against ‘lesser’ nations, that performance last night will have sent shockwaves to every one else. Norway are certainly no mugs & it Could have even been 10!

Cracking goal by Russo for the fourth. England looking good. Thought so too. Been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of England's play.

Embarked on an an epic road trip yesterday. Wife and I are going to all of the knockout games. Brighton, Brentford, Leigh and Rotherham for the quarters, Sheffield and Milton Keynes for the semis and Wembley for the final with a trip home for the FGR match slotted in as well. 8 games in 12 days, a record even for me I think! I foresee an England v Germany final which will be typical given I have a nice ante-post voucher for the Germans!

Sounds amazing that! Proper ground hopping and hopefully get to see the lionesses win major silverware at the end of it

Earlier today I was thinking back to England v Spain in Euro 96 and the way they took us to penalties hoping it wasn't going to happen again.
Surely not history repeating itself??

Fantastic game that. Really good football, so quick on the ball. Bring on the semis

Phew! Great goal from Stanway, next time pass it though!! 😁 Dunno. If there is one flaw to the womens game it's the keepers imo. Not the best shot stoppers from the limited games I've seen

Quite some start for our trip last night! A terrific game which saw England really up against the wall for the first time under Wiegman - and they came through with flying colours! Great atmosphere in the stadium as well and what a winning goal from Stanway! Great organisation for Park & Ride buses and we were back at our 'hotel' for the night (actually Father-in-laws place in Horsham) less than 75 mins after the final whistle. Bramall Lane will be rocking next Tuesday! Today we have an easy drive from Horsham to Ealing and hopefully Germany will continue their serene progress against Austria who have done well to reach the knockout stages.

So Germany are through to the semi final as well and they await either Framce or The Netherlands at Milton Keynes next Wednesday. 2-0 winners on the night but the Germans were far from impressive. They started off far too cockily for my liking, show-boating with back-heels and the like in the early minutes as if the game was already won. Austria gave them a lot to think about and it took a moment of madness from the Austrian goalkeeper late on in the game to finally give the Germans a much needed 2nd goal. Brentford's new stadium is decent enough, amazing how it has been nestled in to an already massively built up area (BRFC take note!) but the seats are not as comfy as the padded luxury of the Amex! An early start today as we head north, a 4 hour (210 miles) trek up to Bolton beckons before a bus down to Leigh to see Sweden take on Belgium for the right to play England in the other semi final. The Swedes should take this, they found their goal scoring boots in their final group match against Portugal and will have too much strength in depth for the Belgians. Hopefully we won't be sat next to the Belgian band!

An amazing 33 chances for Sweden last night but, aside from a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, it took them until the 92nd minute to get past the Belgian goalkeeper. A tough watch at times, this was the poorest of the QFs so far as the Swedes toiled against a stubborn Belgian defensive line. It was very much a case of 'no plan B' as Sweden continually came at Belgium down the flanks - I suspect England will not be having sleepless nights ahead of the showdown in Sheffield! The Leigh Sports Village stadium is a compact modern build and only seated on 3 sides so the crowd was a modest 7500 or so - not ideal for the QF of a major competition really! And... horror of horrors, we actually had rain yesterday! We head to an AirBnB place in Sheffield today (just over 50 miles via the Snake Pass) where we stay until next Wednesday. That will be nice and relaxing and maybe some walking in the Peak District beckons as well! Final QF is tonight in Rotherham - France against The Netherlands. This is an intriguing game. France are strong favourites with the bookies but Miedema will hopefully return for the Netherlands whilst France have lost one of their key players Katoto. Netherlands are the holders of the trophy and will not bow out without a fight and I think the game will be much closer than a lot of people believe. I can see a late night in Rotherham and will be hoping that the Orange hordes are the ones who leave happy!

France v The Netherlands is pretty good game so far, you can see why they are 3rd and 4th in the FIFA rankings.

As I thought - a late night in Rotherham as Netherlands somehow kept the French at bay until conceding a penalty in the 102nd minute of the game. In terms of chances created, France were as dominant last night as Sweden had been against Belgium the previous night and in both games the Player of the Match went to the goalkeeper of the losing side. The Dutch fans were excellent as ever - we watched their traditional march (led by a double decker bus with a disco on board!) from the fan zone in Rotherham town centre to the stadium - amazing scenes and it is a shame the tournament has to say cheerio to them. But well done to France and their semi final against Germany at Milton Keynes should be a cracker! So a couple of days off for us now and it was great waking up this morning and realising we don't have to pack up yet again and move on! A gentle stroll this afternoon to get the legs working before taking on something more strenuous around the Hathersage area tomorrow.

A pretty strenuous 10 miler yesterday - out of Hathersage and along the top of Stanage Edge. A superb walk and finished off with some great ale at the Scotchmans Pack back in Hathersage - highly recommended if you are ever in the area.
Back to it today and the small matter of England v Sweden in the first of the semi-finals. The Fifa rankings say otherwise but I cannot see anything other than an England victory tonight unless the Swedes have put some serious work in since last Friday and come up with a master plan for tonights game! Bramall Lane is one of my favourite grounds when full and it will be electric tonight.
We are staying just a couple of miles from the stadium and will be heading into Sheffield soon to sample the pre-match atmosphere. And maybe some beers.
Back in the road tomorrow as we will head down to Milton Keynes, 120 miles or so from Sheffield.
COYL!

This will be a test for sure. Big atmosphere incoming & hopefully our front 6 will be too much for them.
Like to see Greenwood in for Daly, Toone in for Kirby & Russo in for Ells Bells
