Normally you would expect a fair few changes for R1 of the league cup, but as JB said - we don’t really have anyone!
Perhaps rest Finley and bring in Lawrence and or Jones.
Would like to see Greenslade get some minutes.

Given that we've only played two games this season do we really need to worry about resting that many players? If we beat Crawley then I assume we're still guaranteed playing at least a Championship side, draw one of those at home and it could well be another sell, draw C1ty and we could well beat them on current form, or at least give them a good game. Personally I'd just rest Finley, Evans and Collins.

Yeah agreed. Finley maybe only one that definitely needs to rest for Oxford.
Kilgour also an option if he wants to change it up a little.

One or two changes max, get through to the second round with no worries at all. One of only two chances to land that money spinning draw.
A pointless comp for those who watch footie from an armchair, it would be pretty grim to go out having fielded a second string youth side. Especially to a team yet to score a goal and sit bottom of the division below after the first two games.
Not even in mid august, other than those carrying any slight niggles we should not be thinking of ‘resting legs’.

On the note of bans, it’s telling how violent conduct (which often is a retaliation to bad fouls, often it’s kind of deserved) is treated with lengthy bans, yet simulation, at best, gets a yellow.
To improve the game, I suggest simulation, when obvious, should be a red and a 3 game ban.
Of course, FIFA won’t do it, because its run by continentals and ROW who see it as part of the game. To me, cheating is the worst sin of all, worse than nutting someone who’s just tried to take your kneecap off.
The net result is the form of the game those running the game like is the type of game that helps their teams to win trophies - diving, faking injuries etc, and outlawing as much of the physical side (which favours Northern European and African teams) will continue, as long as the corrupt SOBs are allowed to keep running the game.
Enjoy the WC in Qatar, nothing to do with corruption and money and lavish trips for FIFA officials, it’s all about their human rights record.

Loved a p**s weak cup exit did DC, for all his success in league campaigns his Achilles heel was definitely knock out trophy comps. I count: 2014: Bath City (FA Trophy 1st round) 2015: Chesham United (FA Cup 1st round) 2016: Barrow (FA Cup 2nd round) 2017: Notts County (FA Cup 1st round) 2018: Barnet (FA Cup 1st round) Knocked out of the FA Cup (and trophy) by lower league opposition in 5 consecutive seasons, all but Notts County were non league clubs. DC did not have it right, at all😂 |
