With a 12.30 kick off, a win against Oxford will take us to the top of the table. Can't remember the last time we sat at the top of League 1??

Get the win firstly and who knows, will more than likely be sat in that top 4 or 5 after 5pm. Three games in of course but sets a marker down and provides that aim to stay there for the duration!

Oxford are a good side , three points against them would be a great early indicator that we can challenge in this league.

We were 2nd at half time on Boxing Day 2019 only to Wycombe, largely thanks to DC/GC.
BG then decided upwards motion wasn't good enough.

How many of his signings with us has BG re-signed? Hmmmmm .... 🤔 The defenders soon go quiet... It's early days and great for screenshots to be up there. Carry on momentum and you just never know..?

Them sat in a relegation spot with us at the top of league one. Mr lansdown will be reaching for his phone to try and buy Collins and Evans from us.

Would take a draw Saturday. Oxford a good team and let’s not get carried away about the Burton game. Early kick off normally benefits the home team tho! Proper test for the young defence.

Probably makes little to no difference!

Why do early ko’s benefit home teams . Any stats to back this up ? Genuinely interested. Going back maybe a decade or more when matches first started being moved from 3pm Saturday on a regular basis I know there was a belief that the early kick-offs produced poorer quality games (lower scoring, more draws, more individual mistakes) but that was mostly the views of pundits and fans with no real stats to back that up... ...if that did happen it was probably linked to the initial change in player/club routines but with all the sports science we have nowadays it's no longer a factor....no idea why it would give the home team an advantage though....

IF we were promoted I'm torn between the joys of derbies or the fun to be had if they were relegated, as I would definitely crowd fund a massive "Mind the gap" flag or mural to be placed on a suitable prominent spot.

Let’s not put the mockers on it, got to win first and Oxford will be a damn site better than Burton and the village football team

In a decent Mem atmosphere and energy sapping conditions, I’m confident we can pull it out the bag.

Tuesday 14th March 2000 was the last time we sat top of league 1
That evening PNE played their game in hand (3-1 home win v Oxford) and leapfrogged us into first place where they stayed until the end of the season.
And of course we fell away down to 7th spot on 80 points (missing out on the playoffs altogether)
