In fairness to those knocking Taylor, he's not Hayles, Roberts, Stewart, Lambert, Bannister or Warboys! I'll take his goals this season, the same as those scored by Bannon, Tait & Kelly!!! Has now scored more league goals for us than Lambert did in his first season. There was never any doubt about Lamberts ability! IMO Tbone isn't far - I'd be surprised if Taylor makes the grade in L2, but will be happy if he fires us up there and carries on!!!

do pens count? I hate to sound negative but I still think, and I feel most of us still think, that Taylor is not a good finisher. 6 goals from open play in 31 games in the 5th tier of footy (ok, including 2 cup games) is not really anything to argue over. Yeah, penaltys don't count, they score themselves. no-one is suggesting pens aren't important but to count them as the same as open play goals is a joke. simple question. do you REALLY feel 6 open play goals in 31 matches is that good? Ray Stewart was one of the best pen takers ever. 81 out of 86 for west ham, and of the 5 he missed he got 2 in on the rebound. He was also a right back and scored about 3 outfield goals. was he a goal machine? Looking closer to home, an example could be Vaughan Jones. I am very happy Taylor is becoming an excellent pen taker, but I bet mansell, blissett, monkey, ellis etc could take them.

If he's surpassed our best striker in recent memory's record for his first year, then why is he doomed to always be poor? I'm afraid I don't understand where you're coming from here at all. Players can get better over time and Taylor has done so over this season, who knows what level he could get to, he's 23 for God's sake, give the boy a chance.

Slating a player who's work rate and general play has been good for not scoring I can understand. To continue to do so and to find new reasons to slag off one of our own players now he is scoring is a ridiculous position to take surely?

Right now Goal difference of 19 with Barnet. With four months to go its probably catchable . We go by them on points sometime soon and on goal difference a little later. Who are this Barnet?

To say our top scorer is nothing to do with that is ludicrous. i didn't say that and anyone who reads what I write in life will know I never have. can you read.? or do you just read between the lines and make assumptions? By all statistical evidence Matty taylor is not a prolific scorer from open play. simple. NOTHING more, nothing less. I'm not mentioning anything to do with all round play. I just think the old 'love him or hate him' argument is a joke. he's clearly somewhere in between. He's not Alan Shearer. But he's also not Ali Dia. Life is far more grey than black or white.

Do you need me to calculate our league position without his goals because I'm more than willing to do that.
