Covid test needed definitely. We’ve had to sign up for a visa like accreditation to either produce via an app, or a physical copy (which I have) that comes in the form of a laminated credit card sized pass. Mugshot, passport number etc…to wear at all times, not sure you’ll even get in the country without it. We had the exact same thing in Russia for the last World Cup. Wether this counts as a tracking device, I’ll leave that up to the individual. There’s north of 1/4 million tickets sold for this WC, not sure they’ll zone in too much on a small band of Gasheads/FGR fans😄 Fans advised to buy a throw away phone as the TWO apps you *have* to download are well dodgy . It can take all sorts of stuff from your phone . They can take control of your phone , can access all content , can delete stuff and stop phone going into sleep mode etc 😮 I’ll let them access GasChat & engage with Chippenham, they’ll soon hand it back!

Just the Fan ID (Same as previous world cups) and Fifa ticket app. Nearly 3 million tickets sold by the way.

Another pre World Cup scare story like we see before every tournament! Talking about a Covid app that nobody will instal and fan ID app that’s not mandatory because you can use the physical card instead

Some bars have removed their happy hours (mainly ones in higher end hotels) whilst others have kept them or are doing some World Cup related drink deals. Ubers are a lot more coming from the airport but standard metered taxis are the same. Uber prices around town looking the same (just looked on the app)

It’s free public travel services with a Haya card so not overly bothered. One of the lads in our England planning group lives out in Qatar and fair play to him he’s messaged most bars/hotels and restaurants asking about happy hours and deals etc.. and passing us on the details.

I think its expensive from the airport now because they have banned curbside pick ups and massively increased the car parking fees so the Uber's probably have to pay to use the car parks now. The metered taxis are still the same price and Uber prices around the city are looking the same. Of course they will increase in price because of the higher demand but not by x4. As you say, just use the metro and buses which will be free! How long are you coming for?

Fligh out on the 17th and fly back on the 4th December Would love to stay out for whole competition but couldn’t get the time off work. My company was very generous in offering to pay me in full for the time I am going for.

Will be 19 if England go all the way. Sold a couple of other games. I have to work as well so it's going to be pretty much non stop for me for four weeks!

Very much looking forward to it now, hectic schedule too as I do need to squeeze some work in between. Is it true only residents can buy booze from supermarkets?

Blatter now admits World Cup should not have been awarded. Utter corruption. I caught a bit on Radio 5, they interviewed a sports journalist who at the time heard Blatter wanted the tournament to go to Russia, USA then China as some form of peace diplomacy initiative.

Is it true only residents can buy booze from supermarkets? There are a couple of alcohol shops for residents but you need a permit to buy. So visitors wont be able to go into a shop and pick any up so to speak. You will have to stick to the bars, fan zones, outside stadiums, music festivals and beach clubs for drinks.
