Not sure if this has got around yet but just had a letter from the club (Martyn Radnedge) that Helpine is being closed due to numbers of members falling. Thus income falling and becoming an unviable matter. Sad times.

No real surprise, thought taking it out of priority 1 group was the death nail It was a small incentive to buy a ticket if it meant exiled fans could still get to big games

Spot on! I was in the share scheme from day one. A tenner a month and the only real benefit was priority ticket rights, and the idea that I was contributing to the club. When it became pretty obvious that the share scheme was a miniscule side show in the grand scheme of things, I switched last year to the Helpline - still category 1 but you might win a prize. Now it has the same ticketing priority as being a member of the supporters club I can see why it might die.

If you pay by standing order then best to cancel it.

Disappointing that the club downgraded the priority access for no apparent good reason.

I've been a Helpline member for some time now - as someone iiving ~130 miles from the Mem it meant I could still feel I was supporting the club and it helped with ticket access when I did require it. Sad times.

With the loss of the Helpline, Presidents Club, Young Pirates and the devaluation of the Supporters Club, we are wholly relient on Wael.
If he ever decides to pack it in and we find ourselves in a Sharescheme, or having to leave Eastville to survive type situation, who is going to be in a position to fund raise or organise another lifeline?
Although the whole Helpline admin must take quite a bit of work, I would happily still contribute with no Xmas do to save funds and at least raise some monies for the club.
Ps well done Martin R. Almost 40 years service.

Nice o p.
Can I add to the thanks to the hard work that MR had put in over the many years, and the willing contributors, some of whom aren't with us any more. This has seen us through hard times by historically raising thousands of £ , by thousands of Gas.
It was set up with the very best of intentions.
It has been disbanded (imo) with intentions of much less so.
I'm sure Covid Brexit Flu Ukraine Bird Flu Millennium Bug Rod Hulls death and everything else have contributed to less funding, but it certainly appears to have been in the pipeline for a few seasons by TG idea to de grade the priority tickets proving to be a major blow to it's attraction.
A shame.
Now we have one less independently funded fan associate.
I reiterate......this isn't the club I recognise.

Thanks to all those who put in the hard work to administer this for so long. I can imagine that things like a Helpline suscription will be near the top of the list of things which people are cancelling, as the rising cost of living continues to bite. I've gone through my DD's and SO's and cancelled a few things - need to be counting the pennies at the moment.

Time moves on but a huge thanks to Kate and Martyn for all their hard work. I share the concern of other posters regarding the dilution of the independent bodies surrounding the club. I think we are very lucky to have the owner we do but we are incredibly reliant on Tom and Joe and his mates and things can change so quickly.
I have not joined the supporters club for a few years but I am going to. I can see that a strong independent but supportive SC gives the club a degree of resilience.
I can see why the club would want to bring everything in house but what happens if things go a bit tits up. (technical term!).

Personally I find it sad but understandable that Helpline is closing, it’s another revenue stream which is ceasing & with the 50-50 match day draw going cashless resulting in reduced prize money it’s seems the football club aren’t too interested in supporter led schemes which have been part of our club for ages.

In the early days you could use the exercise equipment at the Hambrook training centre. Which is now a crazy golf course.

Martyn Radnedge - th term ‘unsung hero’ is perfect for him, years of dedication, hard graft an fundraiser extraordinaire especially when we needed it th most. Came up with a great idea ‘Helpline’ along with his wife I believe (who also should be recognised) that continued for decades.
Martin, if yous read this I salute you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I hope you feel pride in what yous achieved an enjoy th rest that you so deserve. And finally - THANK YOU!

Perhaps a new project could take its place?
I am sure that the Community Trust could use additional monies and as this is not run by any supporters groups, it gets support (sic) from the football club - unlike any of the support groups as mentioned previously.
I know people talk about natural evolution, but it does seem strange that Helpline is joining the Young Pirates, Presidents Club, Blue Diamond club and even the Pirates skittles club as "former" fans organisations that have disappeared in the last few years. It can't all be covid?
Imagine the future with no personalities and unsung heroes like Ray Kendall, Bernie Green, Steve Burns, John Keyes, Jim Chappell, Gordon Bennett, Peter Terry, Martyn Radenage, Uncle Albert, Keith Brookman et Al helping the club they love.
All to be replaced with half hearted outsourced agency staff. Its not the same.
