Sadly reminds me of Stoke Gifford player Ben Hiscox who died in freak accident when he slid off the pitch after being tackled and slammed his head on the clubhouse wall Yep, one of my best mates. Horrific reading this, so similar. Praying he makes a full recovery.

Small improvement, fingers crossed. "The family of a footballer who suffered a serious head injury during a game say he is "showing small signs of improvement". Bath City striker Alex Fletcher was admitted into intensive care on 8 November after colliding with advertising hoardings. The 23-year-old underwent emergency neurosurgery at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He remains in critical condition in intensive care. In a statement tweeted by the football club his parents said: "Alex remains in a critical condition in intensive care but is starting to show small signs of improvement. "The care and treatment he is receiving from the doctors and nurses is beyond words, and the love, support and messages of goodwill that the whole football world has sent to Alex has been completely overwhelming. "We sincerely thank each and everyone for sending them and we pray that Alex will continue to make progress in the days ahead." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-63615684

Pleased to see that Alex is moving in the right direction, even though it's a small improvement, hopefully the start of the road back. I see that quite a few clubs held a minutes applause on the 7th minute for Alex (his shirt number), maybe something which Rovers could look at, as we have a connection with Bath City.

On the local(Devon) news and showed him in Argyle kit so guess he has been at Muff in the past. Also showed Torquay conceding 5 Sat and they are at Derby FA Cup replay tomorrow.Gary Johnson has a very tough job there to keep them in the National league. Scunthorpe and Oldham too near the trap door. Back to Alex ,the TV promoted the crowd funding appeal which is good.Very best wishes Alex for a full recovery.

UPDATE
A message from Alex:
Thank you all so much for your kindness, generosity and messages of good will that you have sent to me through what has been the most challenging period of my life. I am now off the intensive care unit and continuing my recovery on the neurosurgery ward assisted by the wonderful staff and nurses here. I want to say a special thank you to all those who have been looking after me and my family and to everyone who has contributed to the go fund me page which will help me get back to doing what I love to do as soon as possible. It will be a long road to recovery but I will draw on all of the love and support that everyone has shown, every step of the way.
Look forward to seeing you all in the future but in the meantime, up the Romans.
Alex’s family and fiancé added:
We are all very relieved and so happy that Alex is now out of intensive care and heading in the right direction. We echo his words in thanking everyone who has shown so much love, good will and support towards us all and are convinced that this has helped in his recovery immensely.
We too thank everyone for the support shown to Alex, his family and the Club this far. Our supporters have been amazing and we know that you’ll all be with us, side by side with Fletch, during his recovery.

Signed for WSM.. Thoughts pirate? He's leaving or left bath city for a job in PFA. Nice opportunity for him, and great respect paid to the club and fans that helped him back to where he is today ...
