Fans Forum to follow our AGM by David Thomas | Nov 9, 2022 | News
Following our AGM on Thursday, 17th November a Fans Forum will be held. Manager Joey Barton and Chief Executive Officer Tom Gorringe have kindly agreed to come and talk to supporters and answer their questions. We are extremely grateful to both of them for giving their time to come and talk to supporters. Our AGM,commences at 7pm and it is envisaged that the Fans Forum will commence at 7.30pm. These events be held in the Bristol Room at the Memorial Stadium. Although our AGM is for Supporters Club members only the Fans Forum is open to all.

Sounds good. Would be good for the SC to share details via email to members (I’ve not seen anything)

Hopefully it will be well attended with plenty of Q&A’s as second part of the evening, the fans forum at 7.30pm is open to all & with the problems we’ve had this season with tickets, ground capacity etc, I’am sure TG will get a few questions to answer.

Good time to bring up about the new club badge. But in my experience not that many usually turn up,but prehaps with JB there more will make it.

An opportunity to discuss key issues with both Joe Barton and Tom Gorringe at the same time is a real benefit.
I doubt if any time will be given to stadium proposals in a public forum. We all get the confidentiality aspect.
However.
There are several key topic areas that can legitimately be raised.
Among the areas that might be worth exploring "together".
1. Proposals to update the club crest.
2. Phasing of the training ground development.
3. Feasibility of the re-introduction of an Under 21/23 squad.
4. Factors impacting upon the current ground capacity.
5. Next stage in the refurbishment plans for the current stadium.
6. Impact of the Cashless stadium on areas such as the 50/50 and catering revenue.
7. Reasons behind the parking restrictions at the stadium.
8. What is the plan to prevent the Season Card "chaos" of this season being repeated next season?
9. What is being done to ensure a steady flow of Academy players into the first team?
10. How is the Loan Player system a benefit to Bristol Rovers in the long term?
There are probably many others. Answers will be forthcoming if the questions are asked. A good turn out will ensure this.

Some good questu=ions there mate. Wonder if questions will have to be submitted before the event, like in the past ?

Tom;
What is our break even figure?
What are expected losses this season?
If players are not playing, can they be utilized in some other way - Rodders and Alfie are great ambassadors for the CT, Grant must have played with or against Mount / Rice / James etc so maybe he can provide some in depth background when England games are shown at the Mem - we all know we will be sat next to a total football expert (who never watched a game apart from the WC at a pub) when we go to the pub, so the supporters at the Mem get a players/ friends point of view.
Do we have a contingency plan, if Wael ever stops covering the losses?
What summer ground improvements are planned?
Joey;
If we are safe with 5-6 games to go will you look to give Ward and Lawrence more first team opportunities?
What are the chances for other youngsters like Heal, Jones, Langlais etc
Can we leave one up front at corners?

TG
Should JB achieve promotion how would we cope playing games at the Mem when most games now are almost sell outs when we're only mid table in L1? Is there anyway we can out any work at the Mem so that fans can return to standing at the front of the terraces in the future?
Looking a bit further into the future if we did manage to survive in the Championship how would we deal with the 3 year all seat stadium rule?
JB
How many comings and goings do you expect in January? Have you already agreed a playing/transfer budget with the club, if not, when do you expect to do that?

Mr Goringe. Having rail "seating" the length of the east terrace would ensure correct numbers are equally spaced . This would seem a good health and safety move for the club. Is this likely to happen this clise season ? Or at all ? Adapting the west terrace for seating would add 800+ covered seats to the stadium. Is this going to happen this close season ?
Mr Barton. What area of the pitch is most likely to be your main focus in the January window ?

It's all well and good adding seating for the comfort of fans and also to make things a bit easier for those who find standing difficult, but converting standing terraces to seated will reduce the capacity substantially.
The planned (albeit temporary) seated blocks above the East stand away terrace and opposite in the West stand might have helped but it seems those are no longer considered workable.
We'll be down to about 7,000 capacity if by some miracle we get to the Championship, survive, and convert to all-seater.
Which of course means we won't survive there.

Yeah, but at least every game would be a guaranteed "sold out" fixture! 😀

I guess nobody from this forum attended? I was there! Really not much in the way of news. JB is very positive about our prospects but obviously gave nothing away about who he may release or sign in January. TG is well aware that we need ground improvements and the message is that the club will do all they can in this regard. That's about it!
