As a point of interest (and I have notified BCC) I grew up in Strathmore Road and the attached photo was taken in the back garden in 1965. Guess what - there's a bl**dy massive building at the bottom of the gardens, way taller than the SW stand, so in my opinion there is a clear history of a large building on that part of the site so really Rovers are simply restoring what was always there only making it nicer. Ignore dreadful youthful me in the photo! Don't know why the small image is upside down - it's the right way up when you click on it! Sure you weren’t in Australia?

It would be good to see Bristol Rugby play one or two games a season. It could be a pipedream or an ambition!.

Would love a new ground elsewhere & the current Mem site converted into a 24/7 Morrisons/Tesco/Amazon depot. Wishful thinking eh Or a fracking site

What could be greener than that! 😂 Yes that recycles fish offal into fertiliser that can be spread on the greens gardens, they would soon kick up a stink over that . Even if it is very green.

It just takes longer for the electrons to travel through the internet to Wiltshire I'm in Wiltshire too, haven't received a letter asking me to comment again, but I've done so anyway.

I fancy an Amazon depot, with drones buzzing over their gardens all the time. Don't house owners own a certain amount of airspace above their house? Not sure if thats outdated. It'll be like clay pigeon shooting out in the sticks

He’s complaining about people moving in from outside the area. What would you call it ? Look ….I’m obviously fully behind the club and find some of the locals ( or not!) objections a bit pathetic, but they are entitled to their own opinions . Just as anyone is allowed an opinion on their local area when they move there. 99% sure it’ll be approved anyway , then we can all move onto the next battleground…. The new east stand ! I agree !. Those who object are entitled to their own opinions. However : we can't simply allow groups to move into communities and set policies without wider debate. This open the floodgates to people both on the right or left or even other agendas to invade a community and set policy. So to be clear I believe in local regional and national decision making . Therefore all of Bristol should have a voice !. How about all of Wiltshire??

Your not the only person saying that on this forum. It appears a good number live very close to the ground and feel exactly like you. Of course will your voice be heard ?. Will they listen to local people in support of this application?. This is why it is critical to have national regional and local accountability and voice. Otherwise groups will move into communities and dictate and dominate the local agenda . Many think the west country is being over - run !. Yeah Bristol only for Bristolians ! Then we can become even more narrow minded and say Horfield only for Horfieldonians ( what is the saying for that ?). Just accept that people can move where they like and can hold what opinions they like . Yatton Gas, I'm not saying that. it's just that the people who have moved in over the past few years tend not to be Bristolians, because of the massively inflated house prices around the Mem and a lot of Bristolians have been 'priced out' of the area. So they don't understand what Rovers mean to Bristol and to 'true supporters' who've been through the mill with the team. From Eastville to Twerton and back to Bristol. Some don't even understand why we would want to go to a 'ropey' old stadium when there's a nice new one at Trashton.

Am I right in thinking we previously had approval for 18.5k capacity? And this was before the advent of electric cars etc? Surely a precedent has already been set?

It'll be like clay pigeon shooting out in the sticks I believe there are all sorts of rules on drone usage these days and yes you do own the airspace above your house, assuming it's freehold. Can't see how amazon will get drones to work in any practicality. i can see people having a lot of fun and games with them.

The problem I have with the way our planning/political system works is we give a voice to the noisy minority. People who moan and complain get heard but that isn't necessarily the view of the majority. Why should the council listen to complaints about something when there are a vast majority who actually want something.
I can see for an extension on a property or similar local neighbours should be able to object as part of planning approval but I don't think this scales up to our situation. The majority of the objection is because they don't like Bristol Rovers football club being there and nothing to do with the proposed stand. It also leaves the process open to malicious intent by people who are against the club.

The noisy minority are across all walks of life mate and whilst the sensible minority deserve a voice, sadly they are out-shouted by the stupid and senseless. Sadly there is no way to cure the problem as stupid people will continue to co-exist amongst us.
